Sorry, I’m not sure which forum this belongs in (sorry mods!).

I’m quite new to Ashton Under-Lyne and today was my first time travelling to and from the game from here. It was a bit of a nightmare getting home, buses seemed to just not exist and trams seem to take about an hour to leave.

Does anyone drive to and from Ashton on matchdays and fancy a passenger in the car? Happy to pay £5-10 each game for petrol/parking/whatever. I’m a very normal bloke. I sit with my Dad but he resides in Stretford so no dice there.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you're a normal person, I'm not sure you'd want to get in a car with the nutters off here:),is there a local supporters club you could join and meet "new match friends" or a coach

I’ve not looked too much into all that. I don’t know my own area too well so I’m not sure about supporter clubs etc. and wondered if anyone on here could be of help. If not, that’ll be the next step I’m sure!

Use this, there is an official supporters group, use the search function, log in and have a bash.

Theres usually 2 maybe 3 empty buses waiting outside asda bus stop going to Ashton after the match but they'll fill fairly quickly so you'll have to get a move on depending on what side of the ground you're coming out of. Similarly, trams will be queued outside etihad campus, the first few will be rammed and you've got no chance getting on one from anywhere after that stop. The problem is all normal traffic is stopped to let fans out so all trams and buses after those will have to come through the backlog so they'll be a long gap between them. I live in clayton/Droylsden and its quicker to walk it back than jump on transport. I don't know how bad traffic is this way but if you don't get those first few buses/trams up Ashton new road try walking over to Ashton old road 10 minutes away from the ground and getting the bus to Ashton that way, I've never done it but I imagine that'll be quicker.

Cheers for that mate! I would probably walk it if it was Clayton/Droyslden, it’s just a bit too far to mine in Ashton. But the info is appreciate! Maybe I’ll be an early leaver soon! ;-(

over the years since the tram started
i use it there and back now
i used to split it,tram there bus back
but like another reply said
coming back its rammed both options.
sometimes the bus will.stop (216) outside the ground after games, they dont always,so you have to walk up to the one near asda, there will be hundreds there queueing.
the tram if you go to the stadium stop will be even more busier, and the next stop at asda they are not allowed to stop at.
we always stay to.the end ( thought id get that in ) and then take our time.walking up to ( clayton hall ), the next tram stop from asda.thats how we do it anyway
