'Apology' from The Daily Mirror

The best thing the Leveson enquiry can do is make newspapers print retractions in the same size, style and format as the original article, then people will really see on a day to day basis how much shit these papers actually write!

Sorry if it's been mentioned before but it seems the club has called out one more paper for printing lies. This was hidden in their Lescott piece:

Yes i seem to remember one of their journalists on some programme talking like he had read some email from Mansour (as if ).

Just keep pulling them up and if it continues threaten legal action , it seems to be the only option to stop all this shit.

I think it was on the "Life's A Pitch" podcast. If I remember correctly, one of the journalists claimed he had seen an email from Sheikh Mansour to the City staff. Can't remember the name of the journo who made the claim and the video has disappeared.

The original claim was actually made by David Walker, sports editor of the Sunday Mirror.

If I was a cynical man, I would argue the Mirror Group thought it would be better 'hidden' in the separate daily operation, as it has more pages to fill and this was on the middle insert, a crappy little nugget.

City will have had to agree to the wording, beforehand, but in the scheme of things, it's a nothing retraction to a nothing story.

No doubt only actionable because it brought Sheikh Masour's name into the equation.

City picking the wrong battles again.

Not when the majority of the actionables are nailed down to a sentence.

The Leveson enquiry is a joke, payback for people who got caught with their hands in the till or their dick somewhere it shouldn't have been.

Disgracefully opportunistic, piggy-backing on the disgraceful hacking of a poor dead girls phone.

Which is recent weeks has even turned out to be a false report from the Guardian.

When a newspaper is forced into retracting a story, basically because they lied in the first instance, the retartaction should, legally, have to be the same size as the original story. A 1 line retraction to what, in most cases, is a double page spread based upon lies, is almost worthless and does nothing to deter future lying.

This would be the single greatest idea in the history of the press. You can print what you like as long as it's true, or justified, but get it wrong and you'll have to make sure people know about it. If you print a front page article wrongly ruining somebodies life, it should only be right that you have to print a front page article admitting that the person/company/whoever has been wrongly accused.

Who knows, journalists may have to start actually checking the facts before they print their drivel! What a novel idea.

C'mon, we see them every day, in one form or another.

It's about setting the facts straight every day, so that the truth eventually resonates.

That means £230k a week Yaya, our owners spending a billion on players, or the continued press conference farces of Mancini being put in ridiculous situations.

This is the British media we're talking about. The truth is alien to them, what sells is what's important.
