have 2 laptops at home on a wireless network all of sudden 1 laptop wont connect to the internet it says aquiring network address and wont connect even though it says that the signal is excellent..........not very good with laptops please help

It means its not getting a DHCP IP Address from your router.

Is your wireless protected by WEP/WPA etc? If so, re-enter the key for that machine.

just done that still wont work...thanks anyway

Few suggestions here:

Try right-clicking on the network connection icon and do a "Repair".
Try rebooting the router.
Is the router set to Disable Wireless Broadcast? If so, un-check it so it broadcasts the network address and remove security temporarily.

Few other links to try:

In my recollection of wifi in windows that message can be a bit misleading, check that it is actually set to obtain an address automatically.

Water pipes

I am thinking about buying some wholesale water pipes from this company in China <a class="postlink" href="http://www.liangdianup.com/tobacciana_z.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.liangdianup.com/tobacciana_z.htm</a>
but I am not sure if they are legal to bring in to the states? What are the laws on water pipes, bongs, and pipes?

If it's Vista it can be a royal pain in the arse networking.

Try system restore,
run AV clean up tools AVG, combo fix, malware bytes, spybot
give the adaptor static IP address > see here
failing that, to be honest make sure you have all files backed up, software to hand and repair Vista ,chuck in the DVD, set machine to boot of the Optical drive, start up install routine, Vista will automatically back up files to the windows.old folder anyway but that should do the trick. A little nuclear to be honest but effective!

its windows xp tried system restore but still no joy......ta anyway

Should be easier to resolve than Vista.

click your start button, type cmd in the run command , they type ping <a class="postlink" href="http://www.sky.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.sky.com</a>

Hopefully you will get 4 packets received with a Time To Live (TTL) response in the milliseconds.

|f you do get reply then it is software (either legit or malware) causing the problem. Post back and let me know.

you could try changing the channel you connect to on your router.

usually you find your router settings by typing in <a class="postlink" href="http://192.168.0.1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://192.168.0.1</a>
to your address bar in your browser, if this doesnt work go to start/run and type in cmd and at the prompt type ipconfig /all

your routers address will be the same as your default gateway so write it down and do the same as described above.

when you find your routers settings, locate the wireless settings and somewhere in there you'll see where to change the channel your router uses.
