Are expensive headphones REALLY worth it?

The thread title is asking our subjective opinion. I’d agree that for most people who don’t have an exquisitely musical ear, then most cheap and cheerful headphones will do the job.

People will have differing wants and needs though. Some want a heavier bass, whilst others want a more dynamic treble.

If you can try before you buy, then everyone should get what they want.
Which is all I gave. I never claimed to be an authority on the subject. Quite the opposite actually, if you look at my last comment in that post. Agree with your comments re different people looking for different qualities in their headphones. That's where the premium units come into their own.

Well the latest version is the xm5s, only £50 more, but my main query is will they be so much better than my £60 pair.
Most stores let you listen to them… I had bose briefly before the Sony‘s and I was pretty disappointed with those….

The noise cancelling mode is the game changer for me

Are these any good? Amazon reviews are inconsistent and weird.

Deal of the day: Sennheiser HD 250BT Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless Headphone with AAC, aptX™, aptX™ Low Latency, transducer technology and build-in microphone- 25 hour battery life, USB-C fast charging – Black https://amzn.eu/d/iSTrupk

I've always been happy with my Bose comfort headphones. Mid priced, very comfy, good noise cancelling, a single charge lasts for days, Good depth and Bass response. Had them around 4 years now and wouldn't change them, no reason too.

I have some AirPods Max headphones - best I have experienced and I have had a lot of headphones. Build quality is superb, sound is phenomenal and the noise cancellation is unparalleled in my opinion.

Yes, like most things - you get what you pay for.
A cheap £60 pair of headphones will not give you great sound compared to better, more expensive models.

Read the reviews and invest in a good set.
