Are Fleetwood Mac the wildest band ever?

SALFORD!

I have just read the above article about Fleetwood Mac, I didn't know much about them previously, but fuck me they were wild!

They must be the only band ever to give a credit to their drug dealer on an album cover and claim tax relief on it!

They just did coke then? No heroin/trashing rooms/murder etc. Meh

You've got a point mate, they couldn't lay a glove on Boyzone in the partying front!

In all serious though, I'm 38 and remember the media losing their minds over Brian Harvey of East 17 bragging about having E's in the 90's and him getting kicked out of the band! Fleetwood Mac were on a different level!

They were all hellraisers in a way back then, and some of the best of them took things too far. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Keith Moon.

The Beatles decorated their Sgt Pepper album cover with images of marijuna plants, and that at a time when being found with some dope in your pocket by the police resulted in a prison sentence.

I'm not surprised Fleetwood Mac are up there. They started out as a blues band with one of the finest guitarists the UK has ever produced, Peter Green, but he cooked his brain so much he stopped functioning.

Q Magazine called this tour the "most debauched rock tour ever". Well known drink and drug hoodlums Primal Scream were supporting this tour but after seeing the excess laid out in front of them they decided to give it all up and recorded their next album without powder, pill or spliff. One band member left the tour due to "mental instability". One member was a functioning alcoholic. One member would try to commit suicide a year later and then did die for 2 minutes the year after that due to a speedball overdose. This member also had drug induced heart attacks on stage during the tour. After the tour another member left the group altogether.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, Depeche Mode, and their year long world tour in 1994.

Pfft. Sounds like a cosy Sunday afternoon to me

Maybe not the wildest, but the history of the bands personal relations are unmatched, and pretty unique. You can hear this dynamic in many of the lyrics, and many a great song was written because of, and not despite of this. How they managed to stay together given the ever changing circumstances, and drugs consumed, is in itself a bit of a miracle.
I'd like to throw queen into the mix here, apparently some of their parties were a decadent, debauched affair, and went on for days. Naked Dwarfs serving cocaine on silver platters, high end hookers, specialist "entertainment" rooms, the list is pretty eye watering.
