Burnley sold their allocation for the F.A. Cup but since they came up they only sold out once in the leagueI was surprised by the Burnley turnout. Do their clubs have to pay for unsold seats if they can’t sell out? If so maybe they don’t want to take the risk. First time I haven’t seen Burnley sell all three tiers.
I was talking to some Burnley lads in the Angel at lunchtime. They were bemoaning the fact that they had only sold 1500 tickets, and they had returned the top tier straight away. They reckoned the premier league novelty has worn off for many, the style of football is grim and add in the regular 5 0 hammering’s, and there wasn’t much demand. No, it isn’t that new, being a matchday ticket buyer I can usually guess at the start of the season which teams will return the upper tier, to make £30 tickets available to city fans. Norwich , Burnley Southampton are usual suspects.Maybe a bit early to judge but Norwich, Saints and Burnley seem to have brought significantly less away fans this year than in past years. Is that a fair comment and is it because they know they are likely to see a beating or simply post Covid?
