Are we ( English fans ) an embarrassment nowadays

I'm Irish. We're welcomed with open arms around the world. We're as loud and boisterous as the English fans. As are the Scots. The Welsh less so IMO. But the trouble only seems to come from English crowds. Why is this?

That's just wrong.

There has been LOADS of trouble from other nations supporters, but because it doesn't really involve us, it's rarely reported over here, so all you get is the narrative of it being an 'English disease'. The scots are often involved in trouble but it's passed off as a bit of high jinks or similar.

But far be it for me to get in the way of your tarring and feathering.

You couldn't pay me to go and watch England abroad but I've been lucky enough to watch my fair share of City matches abroad. I don't know if you've been abroad with City but if you have I don't understand your post. I'd still have fingers spare if I counted on one hand how many times I've seen trouble at those matches.

Do I get pissed? Yes
Do I have a fight with anybody? No
Do I generally have a great laugh with opposing fans? Yes.

Not everybody is aggressive when they are pissed.

My post was not specific to travelling City fans, more as a general observation of Brits abroad, and i include myself in this as well. Due to medical problems i was unable to drink for two years and seeing some of our countrymen abroad when stone cold sober was not a good sight.
I appreciate this does not apply to all Brits.

Call it tarring and feathering, but back in 2003 or 2004 I was part of an american football team playing in a european championship in Belgium.

First night there we went to town and saw shutters pulled down in fear by nearly every bar as they saw 50 lads walking through the town. Armed police started showing up.

We were later informed of the damage the English did last time there in Belgium and that as the Euro's were taking place, they were in fear of hooligans turning up again.

Only two English lads in the 50 of us, but the accent was all it took to send the town into a panic.

So before you give me the "oh poor us it's everyone else" shite, why is it that other nations don't have the issue, or English rugby fans can travel anywhere and be welcomed?

Unfortunately, the national team attracts some utter filth, and they are the loudest and most noticeable unfortunately for the genuine fan.

Where the fuck did I say that, you moron?

I said it doesn't get reported HERE, when it doesn't involve US. Get it?

There were LOADS of countries fans that caused trouble in Brussels, yet if you went by the press, you'd have thought it was ONLY the English, it fucking well wasn't. The Germans, the Poles, the Turks to name but 3, all had massive confrontations out there, but as I said, it didn't really get reported HERE, because it didn't involve US.

Haha, goodnight :)

I hate the international scene full stop to be honest, the football is shite and it attracts all the twats from every club.... I couldn't imagine a worse football experience... Dont get me wrong I want the national team to win but I never watch em or really give a fuck if they lose.. Anyone who wants a scrap or wants to ruin the experience of other fans or locals abroad, or at home for that matter, is a grade A ****...!
