are we one signing - a john terry away - from a title bid ?

Whilst trying to be as typically pessimistic as possible, we can't be all that far away, surely?

I think it will depend on how quickly we gell and how much we strengthen our defence. But we must be close to saying it isn't out of the question. If the trend continues of City getting better and the others getting worse, then who knows. And no Europe is probably a help in this respect.

Fuck it, let's be crowned champions.

I'd rather not have wankers like JT in my team, thanks.

Nice guys don't win, so I disagree with you on that. If we sign him it's the end of my friendship with a good mate who's a big chelsea fan, he won't be able to look me in the face.

Think the Terry signing would be brilliant news for Onuoha and Richards. Terry learned from Desailly and LeBouef, and it's that sort of experience that gets passed on when you have players of this quality.

Garry Cooke seems to have learnt lessons over the past year and he still as major contacts throughout sport because of his Nike dealings.

This is why IMO we landed Barry, because of his Nike connections and Eto because of the same reasons.

We are also hopefull of getting all our dealings done sooner rather than later and Hughes can get these players together for pre season and get them to gel sooner than mid season.

As for CB then Lescott would be a good addition but we also need a leader and someone like Terry would be immence.

Well said.
Totally agree.
For me Ferdinand should have had the England armband anyway.

That apart Terry is not the player he was.
Age and injury problems are beginning to catch up with him.
2/3 years ago he was the best in the country.
Not anymore.

Eto'o is the ONE signing, JT is not. I'm not really fussed about all these 'top class' defenders we are talking about, what about giving Vinnie and Ned their chance?

These Terry rumours have got me thinking yunno?
I don't know if you was aware that when we had that meeting with Barca earlier on in the season we also had one with Chelsea (tried to be kept hush hush).
The meetings were to build realtionships and to put forward that we was to be taken seriously and our intent.
What i'm getting at is now that the Eto'o deal has become public and done were them meetings just about relationships and intent?
Names must of been mentioned??

My Thoughts:

It will be hard for Terry to explain his decision to leave (to his fans) and say it wasn't about money as were not in Chumps League, let's face it he would be hated by many if it happened.

But

Is he getting stale there and needs a new challenge?
Maybe he can't see Chelsea fulfilling his CV?
He's definatly the type of person that likes a challenge, he likes to be at the centre of it and one thing is for sure he knows exactly what's going on at our club as his agent has been involved with City in two recent signings we've made and he may want a piece of what's going on?

We're fcuking miles away from having a squad capable of challenging for the title.

Hmm.
Messi, Kaki, Fernando Torres.
They're all pretty nice guys.

And Bobby Moore was a nice guy.
And he won the biggest prize of all !

In my opinion it makes good business sense for Chelsea to cash in on JT.

I dont think he is the Mr Chelsea that everone makesout and i believe he is interested in coming here.

He isnt getting any younger and Chelsea are in a position to make good money from him, they wont do that in a few years time!

England captain, Brilliant leader on the pitch, Prem proven, Winner....seems to fit the bill to me..

Terry will not be leaving Chelsea i can assure that. And yes he is Mr. Chelsea, he is the soul and image of the club. You already bid for him in jan nd both the club and player turned him down. If again, it will be the same. Although a bid of above 50m would make us scratch our heads i think.
It would be a waste of time sorry to say that ;p
