I like the Smiths. And some country. And rock. And prog. In fact the group/ style doesn't matter if I like the song. I have loads of albums where I've heard a song and bought the album on the strength of it.

I even have an Oasis album.

It is hard to be a rock snob really as most bands are rock bands

It is the genres of rock I suppose people.can be snobbish about .

For example Yacht and Prog rock is terrible at times yet psychedelic, blues and folk rock is quite decent

They all simply merged into one band - Radio 1 staple diet in late 70's early 80's along with Rainbow, Whitesnake and other American poodle rock..... Couldnt tell the difference at all.
Then The Smiths came along and once more life was worth living once again....

Every gig (those he turns up for) 2 shirts a gig, occasionally 3 end up in the crowd. Mass fight between fans for the right to own a small ripped shred of sleeve.
