Are you British or English ?

Its an interesting question and Ive thought about it......I think its an individual thing, My Mothers family was Irish and My fathers ancestry is Scottish and as a English Northerner I feel more affinity with Scotland & Ireland than I do with Southern England so I regard myself as British, the official name for our country is The United Kingdom Of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, England is only a part of that

Indeed. Its a very emotional question and everyone's answer will be different.

I regard myself as mainly British and English although I have an Irish Grandma and a love of Irish Culture.

-- Fri Aug 03, 2012 6:49 pm --

What is wrong with being English?
Scots are proud to be Scots,
Welsh are proud to be Welsh,
Irish are proud to be Irish,
but if you say you are proud to be English you are a racist.
Leftish shite.

A political can of worms in here. If England adopts a national identity it could mean trouble in all directions.

Careful BBB, you'll be branded a knuckle dragger for that and be placed alongside the pricks from the EDL and BNP.

I rest my case your honour.

You just really missed my point, I was agreeing with you...

Ask a Lancastrian to say "surely you heard about what went down at the Crown and Anchor?!" and you'd swear they were talking in a foreign language!

I class myself as Manc.

Born here, spent most of my growing up in Ireland I'm a weird mongrel. I support Ireland in the Rugby and Britain in the Olympics. I have no real affection for the England football team but will get behind them in the tournaments, I regard them as a kind of Southern team that's not got much to do with the North West.
Nationalism is overrated imo I prefer to seperate the world into groups of Cunts and Kind of Cunts. The people I like or dislike can fall into either category.

What does concern me with Nationalism, is that as some people have mentioned Rascists latch onto it very easily with the whole 'I was born here attitude, which leaves wankers to group everyone with a bit of pride in where they come from as Xenophobes, and the people who are proud of where they come from Lefty pricks.

Can we not just all agree we're cunts of varying levels who all think different things?

English. I might have a wee bit of Welsh in me, some Norse, a tiny bit of Scottish, some German and some French but I am English. Honest. I eat roast beef and everything. With salad cream.

Salad cream? As that is a Yankee concoction, your ancestry needs checking. Anything other than horseradish or English mustard is an abomination.

You need to check your facts mate as salad cream is English.
