Are you giving anything up for Lent?

Booze will be going too around that time as the Mrs is due in a few weeks.

Can’t be getting plastered downstairs and stumbling to bed then!

Hopefully by the summer I resemble something healthy.

i never drink alone indoors. pointless.

Didn’t want a religious discussion, I’m not a Catholic.

I think even if you’re not religious it’s a good way to drop a bad habit or something unhealthy.

By me dropping crisps and fizzy drinks, I’m likely to lose a bit of weight in the process.
you're making it religious by using the word lent

what you are suggesting is all fine and dandy, just do it as and when

Loads of people give up stuff for lent that aren’t Christian.

Please don’t continue down this line as I can’t be bothered with a religious argument.

But you can do that at any time of your choosing, why wait for lent?
Edit: seen your later replies re no religion so I will leave it alone.

Giving up nowt.

Papal decree doesn't say you have to give up anything for lent, it asks you to fast on fridays during the period and only if you are healthy enough to do so, or refrain from eating meat on friday at least

I find people giving up tolberones and such is just tolkenism so they can pat themselves on the back.
Toblerism shirley

Ban-jani, are you including beer as a fizzy drink? And is it only potato crisps, or all crunchy snacks of that sort.

If your beer is fizzy you are drinking the wrong stuff, Bass Charrington cornered the market in the 70's but fortunately we moved on from that shite.

Cigarettes (already been stopped a month so not specifically for lent).

I am torn between daytime fasting and giving up sweet foods/drinks for lent itself.

Soft fizzy drinks only.

My Mrs is due in a few weeks so I’ve got two weeks left of the good stuff until I am taking 2 months off anyway, so just unhealthy soft fizzy drinks, as I’m not doing 3 months off booze.

Two points to start with:

no I am not trying to go head to head against @worsleyweb for shit threads, although I appreciate this is a contender.

let’s not have a religious discussion.

Now that’s out of the way, are you giving anything up for Lent or are you giving up anything just generally at the moment?

From Wednesday I am going for crisps and fizzy drinks.

I did consider booze but with us being in lockdown and it being so boring and the fact I am a few weeks away from not being able to drink as the Mrs is due soon, I sacked that idea off.

Will be giving up fizzy drinks and crisps from Wednesday to black Saturday April 3rd.

What’s in it for me?
