Read recently that 96% of the worlds population believe in a deity of some sort. Not judging anyone, you're entitled to believe in whatever you like.

There is no way that figure is accurate. I am a member of the Atheist Alliance and Freedom from Religion Foundation and can tell you that the number of Athiests in the world is rising fast. Somebody mentioned earlier that many people who take surveys are in fear of being alienated by family members, governments etc also some people will check 'christian' just cause they went to a C of E school, but they probably haven't been to a church since leaving one,so no figure will ever be truly accurate.

There's some great Atheist podcasts on Itunes, if you're interested in some great news articles/debates etc

Religion will only be shown up for what it really is when one thing happens.
Every single faith will go out of the window when prayers and faith do not help no matter what.
This event will be beyond our comprehension and no god or diety will save your soul.
It will come about by one of two things.

1. Intelligent alien invasion. They will colonise the planet. Rape it of its useful minerals and resources. Kill any objectors. Eventually leaving the Earth dead.
2. Huge asteroid causing mass extinction.
