Aren't City's players nice!

Two guys ran on to the pitch during Al Ain friendly and bombarded Nasri, and he just responded by hugging them back..

Awesome! He also had a great post match interview where he said that missing out on world cup is just life, and that it is good for city because he will be fresh for preseason (and yet he is out of team for immaturity.. bs!).

Despite all the thrashings we've given them in the league since, I haven't hears anything remotely similar from any of our players or management team. I sort of wish we weren't so nice sometimes and would rub their fucking noses in it . Just occasionally, that's all I'm asking.

Lets not forget his tweet about Yaya and Kolo losing the African Nations Cup Final as well.

He's from Murkyside; what can you honestly expect?

Agree with this entirely. I often look at other teams and see a rare few decent guys amongst an awful lot of players that I could see myself reluctantly cheering for, but with City I never have to worry. Of course we seem biased, but I challenge anyone to name me some examples of City players that appear to be genuinely nasty people. You look at United with the likes of Evra, Rio, Rooney, Young... I could never see myself wearing their names on my back, and the same goes for many other players at many other clubs, yet with City I'm constantly amazed at how damn nice and friendly all the lads seem. It's for that reason that I now laugh at the countless "Hired mercenaries!" comments or "City have got no team spirit!".

You look at guys like Vinnie, Milner, and Zab first obviously as examples of warm-hearted, down-to-earth guys, but literally the whole squad, be it in interviews, off-the-field, or right down there in the middle of the game, seem so void of the arrogance and self-centred attitudes that appear so rife elsewhere. The new signings who came in last summer have all been honest, decent chaps and the new kids coming through the academy like Lopes seem equally humble. You only have to compare a video of our lads celebrating the title win to United last year. Countless hugs, respect for the staff, waves to the fans, genuine happiness at what the squad had accomplished together, Vinnie inviting Richard Wright up on the stage on one hand, and a line of smug, self-satisfied grins on the other.

It is maybe as you say us seeing it through blue specs but I see our squad as full of proper men, they don't court the press or go looking for controversy. The likes of Kolarov, Kompany, Milner, Zaba and so on, hard working dedicated pros.

The whole club from what I can see is professional from top to bottom.

We get the odd little snippet. Fernandinho's interview about how he was surprised at how piss easy the home derby was was great.

I can honestly say that is is not just a blue-tinted specs thing either. My other half is a Wolves fan (so life has been a little less stressful this season than when we relegated them on the way to the title last time) so she doesn't come to the matches with me and the kids. She was naturally watching last Sunday though and said to me just how well everyone came across on the post-match interviews. No arrogance, lots of praise and thanks for teammates, manager etc and not to mention considerably more eloquent (and grammatically correct) than the usual level of English footballers. We genuinely have a great group of intelligent, humble, hard working guys who appreciate just how lucky they are and are determined to make the most of it.

The problem with having such a likeable squad is that it makes other fans a bit more bitter in response. Anything negative they perceive gets clung to and blown up. Everyone I know who doesn't support City seems to loathe Nasri. And they never seem to be able to take into account how he's now incredibly down to earth and almost totally chilled as a character.

I know a few who dislike Sergio purely because of his one bad tackle on Luiz...

Obviously this probably doesn't apply to all fans, just the ones I know.

Sadly, there are many fellow blues who loathe Nasri for no good reason [they always have an excuse]. They should check out the first post at the top of page 3 and see the hero worship he gets in the Arab world, for example. Today's Gulf News has a page covering last night's game. Half of it is a Nasri piece and a large pic. The Deschamps excuse is despicable but I expect no more from one of Michelle Napolean's acolytes. I expect from from City fans TBH.

No no no OP; you've got it badly wrong. They're all money-grabbing mercenary bastards who don't give a flying fuck about the club. Especially that twat Zabaleta.

He's only sticking it out in England for the gourmet food. WIth mushy peas.

This.
The likeables. The perfect sons-in-law.

Compared to winning the title in 2012 when we had Balotelli (for all his antics on and off the pitch), De Jong (for breaking legs), & Tevez (for playing golf). Mancini wasn't liked very much either, and nor was Platt.

Why are you implying that Balo, De Jong and Tevez were not liked. Nige was a fuckin hero.

It has indeed and that's great. I would just like one of our players to calmly say something to the effect that Utd can only be considered our rivals in a geographical sense these days as they are no longer really a threat. And then I'd like Shrek, Evra & Giggs to read the quotes in the paper and weep.

So you'd like our players to act like their players?

Why do you feel the need to have that said in public? Isn't it enough that that IS the situation and that anyone who cares about it knows it is so? No need to be petty about it.

I know I'm biased, but in the aftermath of Sunday's game, it struck me what decent guys we have in our team. Someone in another post used the word "dignity" in referring to our demeanour in the last few days. Spot on.

From the manager downwards, men like Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri, Zabba and the rest came across as essentially decent and honourable.

Contrast this with the appearance of Utd (can't bring myself to spell it in full) players and officials when they've won something. Starting with the sneers of the departed SAF, the ugly coarse features of Rooney, the gibes of the equally aesthetically challenged Ferdinand, the shifty little black beady eyes of Giggs - not to mention their smug arrogance and misguided sense of entitlement - they cannot compare in any way with us. I feel that Van Gaal will be cut from the same cloth.

The nasty little barbed arrows and mind games of Rodgers didn't endear him to me, either. Can't imagine Pellegrini sinking to that level. I feel we as a club should get more media credit for this.

Am I seeing the world through blue-tinted specs, or do others agree with me?

Front page of the DT Sport this morning. They are gonna make history! If there is one phrase in the English language that gets on my tits and up my arse it is this one. Everyone makes fuckin' history! We live and the past minute is history. They put it as though no one else can make it! And on the inside they are gonna put MANUre back to No1!!! Mmmmmmm!

But there is a malevolence lurking about MANUre, and part way through last season I had to question myself as to whether The Dippers were taking over top spot in the Teams I Don't Like table because of the snidey comments coming from players and staff! The funny thing is that there are no reports in the RagDipperMeedya of our players badmouthing anyone - 'cos they don't!

Those things have a habit of coming back and biting. "Noisy neighbours", "not in my lifetime" and all that. Let's continue to dominate them on-field and show a measured, professional attitude off it.

I did like Mario's wink at Wembers, though! And there again, just look at the reaction from the red shitehawks when he stood in the middle of the pitch!!

You're right of course, I DO need to stop being so petty. After every good hiding we give them, I cannot resist reading page after page of the Sad Cafe match thread because I like to feel their pain. I think I need help.
