Nah, other squads might have had "bigger" names, but this current squad is way more complete in all lines. Previous Argentina's sides had a lot of attacking power but lacked fatally on the middle, at the back and on goal

They improved as the tournament went on. The wins against Polan Croatia and Australia were hardly inspiring and one loss and 2 penalty shoot out wins as well.

I think this was a World Cup where a bit of luck and taking your chances was certainly critical.

How's a 3-0 win on the semifials of a WC not inspiring? Aside from Germany in 2014, how many other teams have shown that level of dominance at that stage?

The first half of the final, was also one of the most dominant halves of WC finals history.

Aside from that, which WC winner has ever won a WC winning every game in dominant fashion? Tight games are the norm in WC play.

Argentina looked good because they were good, in fact for the first 70 mins they were bloody brilliant. To demean that by saying it was due to France is just wrong

100%. A pundit (can't remember who) post-match said there were excuses for illnesses, but you can't use them anymore after how the French played past their 1st goal.

They were just shell-shocked by Argentina's energy and struggled to match it for 70 odd minutes.

Amazing how the illness card got ditched every time they received a penalty to stay in the game
