Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Man I just saw some stats.

Stones and Akanji made 0 tackle attempts and made 0 attempts at ground duels.

Its not that they failed in them, they didnt bother trying.

Stones didnt have battle for the ball aerially once, while Akanji won 2/3 aerial duels.

What in the lord is that, ive never seen CBs who literally just stand still so much when defending.

by end of February I fully expect few teams overtake us hopefully not by much. we aint gonna win a game in next 3 PL games imo. not with this play and form and fitness.
Real will take lot of energy out of the guys while Newcastle, dippers can prepare and be fresh big time to hurt us by sprinting into duels and for second balls something we hate to do clearly.

unfortunately the panic that set is once we concede as seen vs Spurs, Sporting, PSg and now Arsenal, this is so sick...
opponents can smell the blood in the water like sharks once we concede and it gives them extra momentum and belief that even guys like Lewis-Skelly become like Cafu at his best or Maddison like Zidane.

Imagine scoring your first PL goal and you do your opponent's celebration. Rent free living from the pitch to the stands.
I would understand it if it was Gabriel or Saliba - they are great defenders and will get the nod from the Reals/Barca's/Milans/PSGs this summer when the tarquins are potless again, fuck off over there and will still be in an elite tit for tat battle with Erl and other top level strikers for their careers.

Now this silly little tart has just signed himself up for 10 more years of terror from Erl, when he's shipped off to mid table fodder in a couple seasons - who's going to be there looking to stat-pad in the boxing day kick off, who's going to be licking his lips on an April Sunday with his Nth league title already assured eh?

That celebration told me all I need to know about that team and where their priorities lie, they should be looking above at Liverpool yet they've shown everyone they've not took Erling's advice to stay humble on board and why they ain't winning fuck all... again.

He was terrible on the ball,

My stream was bad but we saw 2 where he played out and we lost it immediately because the pass wasn't on.
No he didn’t. The 1st was Stones to Akanji and the 2nd Foden. Other than that he’d a howler that they didn’t score from.

Possession means nothing if you do nothing with it, yet we persist with the same tactics match after match. Pass, pass, pass, side to side, and back again. Players afraid to cross the ball or play a progressive pass for fear of the wrath of Pep.
“The Wrath of Pep” Good title for a book about this period.

Try this....

Hahahaha..

Saw that years ago.. ;-)
Seen it today too..

Yeah but it worked previous league winning seasons so can’t get too pissed about squad size now. No injuries and we’re battling for second.
Yes but with the squad getting older recovery times are longer, that's not some unknown quantity but we've more or less ignored it for the previous two summers.

Phillips-> Kovacic-> Nunes. What the fuck were Pep and Txiki thinking man. Absolutely embarrassing to get three midfield signings so wrong. So much money spent on players that are either average or terrible.
Without Savinho, Haaland and Gvardiol we would be in even more trouble this season.
Kova is great for what we paid, probably having to do more than what was expected though.

The other 2, fucking embarrassing.

I actually prefer Philips to Nunes though, and that is saying something.

Idiots are more concerned with us than the team that's actually at the top of the table lol

Our current team is as soft as shit. Foden with his dumb tattoos and gloves when it’s not even cold, Akanji daft haircuts, looks like a **** plays like one. Nunes, the man who can’t cross or defend or do much of anything, Ortega complete shit, Stones a man who flatters to deceive. Silva huffs and puffs and does fuck all. Grealish who must be a complete busted flush if he can’t get into this team, Gundo and Kev, finished. This squad is done, this manager must be able to see this but won’t change, won’t be pragmatic, just like when he used to hand wins to Ole’s at the wheel, he won’t change, won’t spare our collective humiliation.

It was good whilst it lasted.
It’s lasted a long successful decade & isn’t over.
Shocking post.

If you look back at the history of the pl teams that win it normally drop off the following season we on the other hand have done 4 yes 4 in a fucking row ,it had to happen eventually now we rebuild and go again believe in pep believe in the club and back the fucking team

Other managers have eventually learned everything about Pep, this is inevitable, over many years you can study him and take the good bits.

He isnt clearly the best anymore, still a top manager, but he might need to stay on top of what the new managers are doing and adapt.

Shouldnt fully blame thia game on him though, this was mostly the players fault, but Pep is at fault for how this gamr went as well.
He is no where near the best at the minute. Yes he has unlimited credit. But we've seen it with other great managers over the years.

Mourinho defensive tactics got found out
Fergy dinosaur tactics were found out

Pep needs to re invent the wheel so to speak.

Even some of the new younger managers have refreshing ideas.
