Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Awful day. Fell apart. But you know what, it wasn't an all round crap performance.

After a dodgy first ten mins, by the time we equalised we were the better side and fully deserved the equaliser. In fact, from that moment playing the way we were, we may well have gone on to win the match.

Then Phil played that ridiculously chosen pass and also played it poorly. All that hard work to get level and we were back where we were.

And that's when the problems kick in. Some of them lost their heads, some of them stopped playing, even if only for a few minutes and then it was 3-1. Players stopped showing for the ball, stopped making the right decisions, stopped tracking runners. And it became easy for Arsenal to sit in and pick us off.

Stones obviously didn't have one of his best games, but in the last 20 minutes it felt like he was the only defender we had and he was being pulled everywhere and getting there too late.

Obviously changes need to come in the summer, but it's easy to forget this wasn't a bad performance throughout. 1-1 at around 55 minutes was a decent position to be in, we just f#cked up badly from that position.
As a one off you'd put it down as one of those days. However, this was our latest offering in a series of collapses with a heavy defeat thrown in for good measure. It's really strange that this team of players have the ability to lose all composure so rapidly when under a bit of pressure. Not a quick fix I feel.

Our luck is out this season, you need a bit of luck to win things.
We make a mistake, bang it's in the back of our net.
The players can sence this and makes them nervous.

Yesterday our shots blocked theirs deflected in.

It's going to be one of those seasons.

We haven't been able to get a rhythm going due to injuries. Yesterday we had big players out Dias, Ake, Eddy, Rodri that's the spin of the team. Bernie, KDB are one the way down.

Arsenal behaved like small time Charlie's, I can't believe that academy kid of theirs did the same celebration as Haaland, bizarre, the same kid who was booked as a sub.

We weren't great but nor were the arses.

We will take it on the chin and move on.

Very true, but one observation- you block shots by throwing yourself in front of them, determined to stop a goal, not by turning your back or dangling out a leg. It was noticeable when Dias first came back that he was doing this and our other defenders weren’t.

Jesus Christ, Pep's philosophy has been left behind in just 6 months since he won the league with it. That was quick. I was under the impression that evolution is something that happens over millennia.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's asked for one too many seasons from a group of players that are too old, too injured, and too knackered to manage it, and needs a rebuild like literally every manager of all time. Four in a row. There's a reason it'd never been done before.
Agreed. This team has run it's course like all great teams will do and it is time to rethink, replace and rebuild. The ride has been an absolute dream but the stark reality of this era being over is now upon us. The fall as been quicker than we've ever imagined and that has shocked us all and some are going into full blown panic mode. Myself, I'm old enough to have seen the real abject lows this club endured. Times the likes of the rags, dippers, Tarquins and Spuds fans have never endured and would shit themselves if they ever faced those times. I am also aware those times could come around again. Hopefully they won't but never say never in that respect.

I am also very thankful for the past decade that we have been very successful indeed, enjoyed the magical, sublime and superb football we have played and of course the rewards from that. We can all bitch and moan and the current plight and I'm no stranger to that but most of us take it on the chin and the love for the club and what it means to us remains undiminished. The media and fans of other clubs can say what they want about us, they will never have a fan base that has put up with so much turmoil, so much anger and so much heartache than what we City fans have put up with throughout the history of this club.

Arteta built a A Madrid team with the same dna of moaning cheating and disrespect! This Arsenal team hasn't earned anything to show this full on disrespect!

Oh bet they'll be not one article or one media asking Arteta the question pep would get if he was manager of a team that's won fuck all

"how can a team you as a manager be so disrespectful"?
To a team that's win it all while your team don't merit it on the pitch and the trophy room"

Score does not reflect the game at all. A mix of individual mistakes and very poor luck
Agreed apart from "poor luck"

It was pathetic defending from senior international players.

At 1-1 it was game on and I felt it was a game we could win but again we shot ourselves in the foot, nothing to do with bad luck.

Maybe we could try playing that lad we paid 100 mil for down the middle. The lad who played down the middle for Villa and was absolutely brilliant for them. The lad we gave the number 10 shirt to normally worn by the lad who plays down the middle. Just a thought

Looking at our midfield yesterday I thought Grealish must have really pissed Pep off to not get into it. By all accounts it looks like his time here is done.

Make that man president of the world. One of the few willing to get stuck in today. Take note 6 4 " vikings.

I thought we beat them 4-1 in 2023? Bernardo is spot on though. They may think they have a chance of the title but they're six points behind and the scousers have a game in hand. They'll also batter those cunts at Anfield.

Another observation, stop giving the ball away in dangerous areas under no pressure that then leads to a goal. Regular occurrence.

At 1-1 we looked like we were doing ok, this season I'm never confident in the last 25 minutes we seem to run out of steam, some of the goals we conceded were shocking, luckily my Indian takeaway arrived before the 5th goal, we need a couple of midfielders Bernardo can't do it on his own
The last bit I 100% agree with. Folk on here defending Kovacic saying he’s on his own he’s not he’s shite. Bernardo is on his own he’s the only lad with an engine and able to run for 90 mins. He’s running round like a blue arse fly. Foden isn’t a midfield player, Kovacic is a sub, his career has been about being a squad player. Give Nico a chance next to Bernardo or put Josko there as. Got to try something different.

So pep is going to sit him on our bench for the next two years because no one seems to want to buy him with his wages

But realistically how long can we go on saying that?
Well, we’re still 4th in table (probably 5th tonight) yet we’re the “worst team our fans have seen!”
One game is insignificant or we’d be champions after the Chelsea display
