Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Yep, you're right about Liverpool .... City know it, and Arsenal's desperation and celebration at their equaliser showed that they know it too .... Liverpool have five wins from five games already, and even though it's early season yet, that IS definitely title winning form in anyone's book!

Interesting though that despite Liverpool being eight points ahead of us, they have conceded the same amount of goals as City, and only scored two goals more !
Last year we had 13 points from 5 games and were top of the league, it's too early to have any definitive view on how the season is going to pan out IMHO.

I didn't enjoy it, but personally I'm more than happy with the approach.

We have injuries and have played 3 games in seven days. Add to that Arsenal bar Odegaard were at full strength and played Saturday/Tuesday/Sunday then it's not hard to see why they had more energy and ease with keeping the ball.

I thought in the main we defended excellently. Arsenal had a lot of the ball but not many chances.

I'd have taken a point at the Emirates all day and whilst it's gutting to concede so late, last year we'd have conceded another.

We're clearly on the right track.

We created better chances than arsenal yesterday and created better chances than we have for the last 2 years think we need to highlight that. We won't play that way all season. Pep is still trying to find a system for the new players to gel in. His main worry is lack of pace at the back maybe play Khusanov alongside dias and gvardiol left bk. Bernie is captain but offers us nothing on the wing.

It is too early i agree, and things could possibly change, but as I've pointed out, the signs or warnings are already there, and City need to heed them (if they want the prize) ... the side that WINS the most games usually end up as champions, and so far, on the face of it, Liverpool ARE showing the required consistency.

We can only blame ourselves for losing the plot last season, after we'd started well .... we gave ourselves no chance with poor mid season form that only really picked up when it was far too late.

Probably the best we could have hoped for performance wise with the short turnaround. Felt like but for a tiny bit of poor game management from two very experienced players, we take the 3 points and run. This team is more of a team than it was at any point last season. Excellent defensively, compact, and with Haaland/Doku/Foden beginning to get real chemistry, a nightmare to play against.

This team is going to lose very few games between now and the end of the season. They're already in a groove.

Yesterday was a sad indictment on the club, that we had to employ such agricultural methods to get a draw
I'm sure Mourinho has a wry smile after yesterday

What did he do wrong today, he gave the ball away a couple of times, he's not one of my favourites either, but we had to replace Khusanov as he was injured, he did OK for me.
He fell over when in possession, he always does that.
We were immediately under pressure.

The confidence in the back line drops with him in it.

Shame about Khusanov, hopefully he's back for weekend.

We created better chances than Brighton a few weeks ago but lost, and we had good chances against Spurs but didn't take them, so I'm not sure of your point.

My point is everyone saying arsenal were the better team and deserved to win is rubbish and all is based on possession stats we defended better and created better all without much possession. Positive result and performance in my eyes even if it was annoying to conceded so late.

Pep Guardiola spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live after Manchester City's draw against Arsenal: "Disappointed with the result, yes, but last season we equalised in the last moment at the Etihad and they equalise here. It's football. It's 97 or 98 minutes.

"We were incredibly strong. It has been a really tough week for us with tough opponents and then Thursday to Sunday and travel to London, it is demanding. And the opponent is really good, so the result is fair."

On how he feels the team is doing five games in: "Still trying to grow. Many new players, including an important position with the keeper. Many players are injured.

"This is a young, young team, the youngest team we have had and will be for the future. Step by step we see what happens. It is a long journey, so we take it game by game."

Arsenal created fuck all. You can have the ball for as long as you want if you don't create. Even after the half time subs, they created pressure on our defensive line, not chances. Haaland's break in the second half was the best chance of the second half.

Truth !!

A VERY poor goal to concede.

A 40 metre long ball ( NO pressing by Savinho ) over the top of NINE players who were 10 meters to high with too much space behind them leaving a 6.5' goalkeeper in no mans land.

If our back five were in the correct line that goal wouldn't have happened.

Poor organisation !!

Travelled down there yesterday thinking i'd snap your hand off for a point. obviously conceding in the last minute is sore and tough to take but i was impressed how we dug in especially in that second half and nullified their threat and hitting them on the counter (haaland and doku chances). we're not gonna play like that all season, sometimes you've gotta hold your hands up and say they're a better team than us at the moment so how do we get a result here. 3 games in 7 days is tough for any team and we've come out with 7/9, we'll take it
