Arsenal (A) - Post-Match Thread

In fairness, I have tried to detach my view of Arsenal from the commentary and also the fans. BT may have coloured my view of the team and fans unfairly.
On reflection- my more measured view is
BT are fkn cnts
Arsenal team played well but were still fkn cnts
Arsenal fans are great to laugh at (good lad Rodri) but are, have always been and always will be fkn cnts.

They all deserve each other.

i agree with most of that mate. Even well played Arsenal, however they lack discipline and Arteta really needs to get a handle on that if they are to challenge. They had us for the taking and blew their own feet off. Ridiculous sending off and the guy didn’t look like he would learn his lesson.
Too many hotheads.

We looked and played tired. A full week without a game will do us the world of good. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.
agree with that additional summation aswell. We did thank you, trust you had a good festive season aswel.

Yes we were there for the taking today after three tough games in six days we were a bit shot against a younger and well rested Arsenal.

Arteta is getting there but he has to sort out your lack of discipline at times. There is a difference in battling and showing some steel and plain stupidity. We've lost games like that in the past and it's a gutter.

A long way to go yet but obviously it's ours to lose now. Pep is class and will be sorely missed when he leaves
To be fair Arteta’s assistant was pretty measured in what he said and the way he said it, after the match

Can’t understand why there’s any discussion whatsoever in any of the media, or on any forum, about VAR not calling the ref over. For the first penalty shout, the ref wasn’t prepared to give it, VAR checked it, and agreed. In the second penalty shout, the ref wasn’t prepared to give it, VAR checked it, disagreed, and called the ref over to give the ref the chance to change his mind. That’s the rule, like it or not. Can’t understand how paid pundits aren’t able to grasp this. Can’t understand how ordinary fans can’t understand it, to be honest. Both calls were correct, incidentally. The Arsenal player actually steps on Ed’s ankle. Ed gets plenty of the ball. Ed’s such a weirdo that he doesn’t make anything of it. Must have hurt, though. Bernie doesn’t ‘dive’ – he is well and truly blocked by the defender’s thigh, which he goes crashing into. For good measure, his shirt is good and thoroughly held. Penalty on either count. I don’t defend every penalty given to City, I call it as I see it (and sometimes get shit for it). Nothing controversial here. Arsenal were clearly better on the day, and it’s hard lines, but that’s neither here nor there.
I’m just basking thinking of the frothing Liverpool supporters tonight…
Just a side comment about the BT commentary. I didn’t hear it (and will never hear it, because I don’t watch us on BT). I’ve got no axe to grind either way. But it’s striking that fans of clubs that are either neutral or fairly hostile to us are commenting on their forums about how blatantly pro-Arsenal and anti-City it was. I had to put up with the French commentary, which was so unashamedly pro-Arsenal that I’d had enough and turned it down completely after ten minutes, substituting Greater Manchester radio for it.
The happiest of New Years to all of you blues. Savour it.
The bit in bold is correct. The VAR protocol was correctly followed. Time to change the rules again.. :-)
