I fear Liverpool and Arsenal. They are 2 very strong sides and City are re-building. What we can say though is that the rebuilding looks very hopeful. We have young player like Foden, Doku, Khusanov and Haaland who can become the best players in their positions in the Premier League. Add Cherki, Bobb, O'Reilly, Reijnders, and I can only see improvement.
Fair point ….However, I’m looking at it at a more macro level. We generate more revenue than either Arsenal or Liverpool, so over the course of a decade we should have no problem dominating them.

I fancy us tomorrow

When I really think about it, I acknowledge we've only beaten two dog muck teams in the league and there's a chance Arsenal might take us apart .

But I've got a feeling we will do them

Expecting it to be a tough watch tomorrow. Were a distance behind Arsenal at the moment and tomorrow might highlight that.
No we aren’t, we may be a bit behind and we may not win, this game might be a little too early for us,or maybe it won’t. We weren’t a distance behind last season and we aren’t now, think by the second half of the season we’ll be ahead of them.

You may be correct, but if so, what a depressing, soulless commentary on what football has become.

Funny how nobody rated Rice when we were allegedly interested in him, but now thinks he's a threat now he's at perrenial losers Arsenal.

I can also guarantee that if we keep the same side and lose you'll all be saying Pep should have freshened it up.
Why are you so angry?

Well let’s hope you are correct but I don’t see anything to suggest this currently. Arsenal have a real structure to their play, defensively strong, excellent at set pieces and appear to have bought well this summer.

We’re still a work in process , defensively still look open at times, and the jury is still out on all the new signings.

Like you say the new players may bed in well and the team clicks but I think that is more hopeful than based on performances just yet.

Hasn’t it always been a money game to some degree? I mean Madrid is top in revenues, so it is no surprise they often win the Champions League.
In addition, Ferguson was largely out spending everybody in England in his prime. A club still has to spend wisely, but money is always a key factor.

A win would obviously be a great result if we lose that will open a massive points difference and will be difficult to claw back.

Can´t loose it now , being behind Manu after 5 games would be a really poor start to the season.

Anything better than a loss is a result for City, especially at this stage in our growth.

The key to Top 4 is not losing away and winning at home against the top teams. Beyond that, all the top teams should expect 3 pts home and away!

We’ve started slowly, so we can’t afford our early winter swoon this season, but more than that we need to develop some consistency.

Will be very tough but we have players that can certainly hurt Arsenal. We may need the heroics that Donnarumma produced in the Champions League for PSG at the Emirates last year. Defence needs to be strong especially at set pieces. Need to watch the pace of Gyokeres also. Hopefully Rodri makes it.

Sake and Odergard will almost certainly return so Arsenal will line up

Raya

Timber Saliba Gabriel Calafiori

Rice Zubamendi Odegard

Saka Gyokeres Martinelli

Hopefully Stones is back and I'd go for this.

Donnarumma

Khusanov Stones Dias Gvardiol

Bernardo Rodri Reijnders

Foden Haaland Doku

A victory would be absolutely fantastic but 3 defeats out of 5 games looks very daunting and already 9 off Liverpool.

Come on City

I'm not doubting you, although I do think that RM and UCL is just a freakish relationship. Many times they've won it while not even being the best team in Spain, let alone Europe.

I think it was the matter-of-fact nature of your post (or how I read it, anyway) that struck a chord, that's all.

Still, I don't want to be too churlish, considering that without you-know-who's bankroll we might well have been looking forward to a big game against Dagenham & Redbridge or similar...

Why so much talk about point differences in September? Just play the games as they come to get a better level of performance and see where we fall in the mix come February. It’s a period of transition still ffs.

It’s a free hit for me.. How many teams have come to the Etihad in our pomp and had a good go.. That’s all we need to do..The pressure is on them
A free hit. Sorry but I don’t see it that way. This mob aren’t that great and shit the bed the other week against Liverpool. We need to go at them and win.
If we lose tomorrow then I don’t care what anyone else says the leagues done. Can’t be losing three games in the first five and expect to put pressure on Liverpool.

It may be early on but we can’t afford to lose.

Wasn't winning the league this year anyway, it's already Liverpools. Won 5 games despite being absolutely bang average and they'll find form very soon.

Top 4 a trophy and a further rebuild is our aim.

The pressure is 100% on Arsenal and Arteta he simply has to deliver a title.

So obviously Pep will do a Pep and completely change a winning line up. Exhibit A, 2021 CL final....
Shit comment.

You've got no idea whether Pep will change the line up.

If he does it will be because we played a game 3 days ago.

We've just played the same 11 twice so your timing is just weird.

We've won loads of trophies since 2021.

But why not. Why the defeatist attitude. We have the greatest manager of all time. Arguably the best keeper in the world. The best forward in the world. Rodri and foden hopefully back in the groove. Gvaridol, kushanov and marmoush are excellent players. I also think reijndeers and Gonzalez are excellent midfielders and will do well for us.
We are better than a lot of our fanbase seem to think we are and with the squad we have should 100% competing for the league.
