Attwell made the decision. He decided inexplicably (actually there is a very clear explanation) that Rashford was not interfering despite shepherding the ball and diverting several City defenders for more than 10 yards
 
Think today will tell us a lot about how far we've come since February's nightmare at the Emirates. It would be hard for us to be worse...

The prize is potentially being back in the top 4 - and after playing United, Arsenal, Spurs and Brighton in the first 5 games, I'd have taken that at the start of the season. At this early stage, it's all about staying in touch with the top.

Not what I would have like to have seen. Nervous for the lack of fresh legs and not confident in o'reilly at left back or the lack of support for rodri in midfield. Wanted ake and nico.

Hopefully its a slight shuffle from the last games with bernardo alongside rodri as I've seen nothing from reijnders to be confident in him putting in a performance in the 8 today. We can perhaps at least say the same lineup brings a more settled performances.

Genuinely think our best chance today is to out-stoke the billion pound stoke. Play route 1 football on the counter, give them possession and sit deep. We know they struggle against that regularly and woth haaland doku and foden we can do a lot of damage. Dont think we will see that but keeping my fingers crossed.

That’s 180 minutes so in effect this will mean he has played two full games in a week. Makes sense

Its not as simple as totalling up the minutes though. Even if it was 30 mins per match, Its 3 extremely high intensity games within 7 days. you have to let the body fully recover after high intensity exercise andthat is a lot to ask for somebody so early in their return from an ACL.

Not sure what's odd about the line up? Odegaard is injured so Merino comes in and Trossard is on the left instead of Eze who was shite against Bilbao. So kind of what was expected except maybe I'd have kept Eze in. Trossard is hardly a defensive option.
