I'm an Arsenal fan but I may be not as articulate or as erudite as some on here but I will do my best.
I wasnt at the game yesterday but I have been to some recent games at Eastlands and sadly see us lose. I now live in Kent (hving grown up in Highbury/North London)and it's a long way home when you get beat!
I don't want to talk about the game as such as I think both teams had their chances and on balance think it was a fair result. To be honest when I saw M Dean was ref, I feared the worst as in his last 14 games in which Arsenal were involved we only won one.
I want to talk about some of the negative stuff on here directed at Arsenal.
First off, I don't know any Arsenal fan who didn't cheer and applaud when you pipped Man Yoo to the title last season. Well deserved and most of us Gooners hate Man Yoo anyway, so the gut wrenching disappointment the Man Yoo fans and playrs and old red nose felt at the
last especially when Sunderland fans took the piss was brilliant.
I know some great guys who are City fans and I've always admired the way they stuck through thick and thin when struggling on lower divisions.....Paul Dickov, anyone?
On a personal note, I'm an old git who was at Manchester University in the early 70s and was lucky enough to see Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee in their prime. Top players. I used to stand in the Kippax at Maine Road.
I was in hall in Fallowfield and walked to the ground across Platt Fields.
Anyway, I've never seen any problem with City fans (actually, I think they are a good bunch)
I do go to a number of away matches and generally, we Arsenal fans are pretty well behaved and usually have good banter with other fans. However, in recent years there has unfortunately been a growing number of younger tossers giving us a bad name. I apologise for that, but to be honest, all clubs have a mindless minority full of stupidity.
Maybe, it's because I'm an old git but we used to at least have respect for the traditions and history of other clubs. I wish we had. Colin Bell playing for us today......lucky enough to have seen him play many times......he really was that good.
Anyway, fond memories and respect from this Gooner.
BTW Eastlands is so much better than Maine Road!
