Brief 5-10 mins after the goal where arsenal looked very good, which shows their hunger but we managed to control that which is promising.

Very happy with that performance. Defensively we took their strengths away with their pace, only once did Martinelli get past Walker but outside of that and two early chances they're definitely beatable and we now know it. Could be huge for the 2 league games.

Ake MOTM and Rodri both were superb. Same with Akanji and Laporte when he came on. Would love to see Alvarez & Haaland start against them, they didn't seem to have a handle on Alvarez.

Not the best game, a proper tactical battle but sets us up well for what comes.

PS- For the BBC, Sky and whatever else if it didn't mean anything to Arsenal they wouldn't have bought on their starters after going behind, but don't let the facts twist the narrative.

I’m torn between “a win is a win” and being disturbed by how poor we were for long periods especially first half and just after half time.

Tonight was the first time I’ve thought Haaland looked visibly pissed off at the balls not coming into him.

Sometimes you win ugly. We can't play beautiful football every game, we won ugly and are in the next round.

We didn’t play well and there is a nagging feeling that something is not right.

But we won and it’s 2 clean sheets on the run.

Will take a lot to catch Arsenal in the league but all the pressure is on them.

Ake has been excellent all season and Jack is getting better and better.

The balance isn’t right. That first half was horrible. Rico being inverted was killing City. Should have just put Kyle right back and put Rico in Gundos position. Gundo has been woeful of late he doesn’t influence the game and rarely gets on the ball to dictate.

Alvarez and Bernardo need to start for the energy they bring!

I don't think Arsenal fans will lose too much sleep about this. Their focus is on the Premier League where they sit five points above City.

A late goal would probably have created a replay they didn't really need.
