Arsenal (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

We stank today mate. No doubt we don’t deserve anything from match. The ref was horrendously one sided, but no excuses. Pl officials stink you have to assume they will be subjective and incompetent. Despite that we deserved nothing and got nothing.
Refs were zero factor in this match...let's keep it real...

Disagree he let Everton time waste and continually foul without showing a card. It is immaterial i said it didn’t impact the result and we didn’t deserve point. But the premier seriously has the worst officials in Europe. I have no idea anymore what is a handball and penalty. And the stupid subjective clear and obvious rule to VAR is a total joke. If ref made a mistake he made mistake. Easily the worst and most subjective application of the rule in world football. We probably lose anyway but he was total sh.te did nothing about time wasting, did nothing when the 2 of our players got smacked and poked in the face for the ball hands to face is automatic yellow when you square the guy up face to face and smack for the ball like the second assault on Martinelli. To me it was intentional and a borderline red that got no card. Since he wasn’t going to show a card knew they could rough us up at will. He might as well have handed the whistle to Dyche. He was total sh.t.

That being said you are right it almost certainly didn’t determine the outcome. Everton were more intense and executed their managers gameplan better fair enough. This ref stank though honest assessment

This just wasn't one of those matches where some big call played a part in the outcome. It was more about Arsenal trailing late which hasn't really happened and where does Arteta go for a spark off the bench? How far can the same 11 take you? I've been saying for weeks if teams start marking Odegaard closely and doubling the 2 outside guys every time they touch the ball so that they can't run at you Arsenal would struggle for goals. Nketiah is a nice young player but he's not a championship caliber 9 and Jesus had slowed down markedly prior to the WC. How many long range goals can you keep getting from Partey and Xhaka? Trossard and Jorginho were decent additions but you need a legit 9. JMO

I agree ref didn’t cost us a loss. I won’t get into who stank for us because honestly I don’t think any of the starting 11 had a good game by their own standards. Yes they were doing a great job of quickly doubling wingers and forcing the ball back inside. We really miss Jesus, the team is much more dynamic when he is in there but it is doubtful he can impact this title challenge now. It is hard to buy a striker in January.

I think this was a match where immaturity and inexperience was more the issue. Everton is not a side that should trouble us if the players go into the game knowing they are in for a fight, not looking past a lowly rated but highly motivated opponent on the road. A more experienced totle winning side probaly finds away to make that breakthrough. But can’t deny loss of Jesus hurts us immensely.

I can't say it doesn't...

Welcome to our world Loverdoodle. The thing is, we've had to deal with this shit for years. It's tough at the top kid!

Yes I honestly think Premier officials kind of let struggling teams kick the crap out of more technical and gifted sides on the road. And certainly you guys would be the biggest victim of that. I don’t know if they feel somehow that it is more sporting and fair to let them mess you up a bit on the road. So you guys would be the biggest victim of that kind of thing on the road. But trust me, although we can’t compare to your guys dominance in anyway we been getting that treatment non stop for awhile to; but i am sure that is pretty much every weak teams tactics against you guys.

Personally, I don’t care how much more talented the other side is, I don’t enjoy points that are won in that manner. And a mire experienced team and manager should of been able to adjust and eventually break through, we got rattled; can’t deny it

Welcome to our world.

Edit: Oops. Already done, sorry. But you have to get used to that. The big question is how you respond to it from now until the end of the season. Does Arteta and do the players have what it takes to keep calm and trust themselves? Not so sure.
