Arsenal (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Arsenal played very well, but some big refereeing decisions went your way. Gabriel should have been sent off at least for two yellows, if not with a direct red card due to a clear headbutt attempt.

I don't think they played that well.

We started poorly and their press caught us off guard. That was good from them, but by the time the goal came we'd started getting sustained attacks.

If Donna doesn't gift them the goal a minute after we score I think this goes the same way of the cup final, Liverpool and Chelsea games. It killed all the atmosphere in the ground and the team looked dejected for about 20 minutes.

I've seen a lot of Arsenal fans talk about thir close chances, but we hit the post twice and should have scored a couple more too. Semenyo had a bad game, Doku was very hit and miss, Rodri took a while to get going and Gabriel should have been sent off twice.

I think it was 70% us playing below the level we've shown over the last month and 30% them playing better than they have been.

If you go through Arsenal's XI who played really well? Raya was dodgy under corners, almost did the same as Donnarumma early on, Mosquera was bad, Saliba was solid but quiet, Gabriel should have been sent off, Hincapie did much better than the cup final but again, Semenyo was poor. Rice and Zubimendi didn't do anything except defend and break up play, Madueke was crap.

Odegaard was good, Eze was good and Havertz was good. That's it.

We are so lucky supporting this club , because they give us days like this , every player played their part again , there isnt a weak link in the team and every player gives everything , our supporters gave everything as well.
No matter who wins the Premier league this season.....................It's great to be a blue (Cheesy)

The use of his arm in which he leaned in to stop Bernardo’s shot going in the 5th minute was also a blatant red card and penalty.

I don’t recall any team having the same amount of the biggest VAR decisions they go their way.

Two red cards and penalty not given today, two pens not given to Chelsea, spurs goal ruled out for nothing, no penalty given for Brighton. I know I’ve missed a few there too.
Yes, he leant into the ball. Just the same as Bernie against Madrid.

Do you when the rule changed to allow that interpretation, because I would think there are a few pro's out there who have been dismissed in the past, shaking their heads.
I think the rule about it having to be excessive was brought in a couple of months back to prevent some rag thug being sent off in the derby. it was used again today to stop arsenal crying too much.

I do think a draw was fair, but any other game any other team but us, it would have been a pen to City in the 4th minute...that was ridiculous, would have changed the game and played into our plans.... ridiculous decision that,, Gabriel very lucky boy today... BUT Arsenal did play well today... but we battled really well today..O'Reilly what a player..
City could have scored twice in the first few minutes!

Congratulations. I didn't think we played badly and I think deserved a point but it is what it is. Silva immense for City.
Personally I think you fell for the sucker punch today.
All week the media billing it as a title decider, and it’s actually far from it.
Everyone expected Arsenal to come with a low block, however they payed attacking and expansive football and left with zero points.
Had they shut out all the noise, and played with a low block, then maybe the status quo would have remained the same.
Arsenal are now in uncharted territory,
We deserved the win today, and the balance has swung.
Next!

Huge win that to give ourselves belief and at least a fighting chance. Nico O'Reilly was so good I'd have given him 11/10 in a rating; Rayan Cherki brilliant, Marc Guehi such a force
For us and Bernardo everywhere and has the sort of big game nous in situations like today that you just can't replace easily.

An incident packed game in which so much went on it's difficult to know where to start. Things I did learn today: -

- You can basically pull and rip a guys shirt so often and with such force it rips to pieces, yet is still not a foul in the eyes of Mr Taylor

- Gabriel, who spends the entire game fouling anyone in his vicinity, is the only player I've ever seen lower his head like that & push it into an opponent and not get a red. Maybe it's a new rule just for him?

- The speed at which David Raya takes a goal kick can very from 1 second to about 60 seconds depending on the score in the game. Remarkable

What an abhorrent team of set play dependent, shithouses they are. Let us hope football is the winner here because if it is then City will go on to lift the trophy.

Wasn't hard took 10 seconds, you didnt slag him off just called him awful, said people in the match thread shouldn't be in here even though you were and called people idiots.
You've had a mare :-)

We won cheer up, if you dont like people venting during a game dont go in it, pretty straightforward really.

Let's hope for another 3 points come Burnley.
I didn't have a mare, you've misinterpreted it. I was referring to people who were slagging our players off that shouldn't now be coming on here pretending they're happy and were backing us all the time. People who constantly say Pep should go, Haaland should be dropped(despite still being top scorer), keeper getting crucified for one mistake despite keeping us in the game and setting up the winning goal with his long throw out. As you rightly said I mentioned (at half time) that Semenyo was awful, I wasn't slagging off players like other idiots were. There's a world of difference between saying players were awful, as in not performing well, and slagging them off every time they make a mistake.
