Arsenal (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don't think they played that well.

We started poorly and their press caught us off guard. That was good from them, but by the time the goal came we'd started getting sustained attacks.

If Donna doesn't gift them the goal a minute after we score I think this goes the same way of the cup final, Liverpool and Chelsea games. It killed all the atmosphere in the ground and the team looked dejected for about 20 minutes.

I've seen a lot of Arsenal fans talk about thir close chances, but we hit the post twice and should have scored a couple more too. Semenyo had a bad game, Doku was very hit and miss, Rodri took a while to get going and Gabriel should have been sent off twice.

I think it was 70% us playing below the level we've shown over the last month and 30% them playing better than they have been.

If you go through Arsenal's XI who played really well? Raya was dodgy under corners, almost did the same as Donnarumma early on, Mosquera was bad, Saliba was solid but quiet, Gabriel should have been sent off, Hincapie did much better than the cup final but again, Semenyo was poor. Rice and Zubimendi didn't do anything except defend and break up play, Madueke was crap.

Odegaard was good, Eze was good and Havertz was good. That's it.
I don't think we were below par, it was just a tough game against the team that has been top of the league all season, and who were obviously not going to just roll over. I also don't think we looked dejected for the following 20 minutes, didn't come across that way on TV anyway. The atmosphere sounded great for most of the match, naturally there's always a dip in the crowd's demeanour when the other side score but that's just normal.

Truth be told it didn't feel to me like they were particularly threatening to start with, I never felt like they were likely to score. There goal was a fluke from a mistake and they mentioned in the commentary in something like the 65th minute that was their only shot on target and they hadn't had another one since at that point.

I think in matches like this fans' nerves are heightened and it's misinterpreted as the team being nervous and not playing well. I do agree Semenyo was poor, mentioned it at half time

Donna made key saves to make up for the error, he’s been instrumental in our improvement from last season
He was never perfect with his feet. The criticism on here is disproportionate to reality. He is not Ederson and never will be. He saves us in each game many times.

He fucked up but then made some big saves. What more do people want? Any excuse to complain.

Lets get something straight , the Goons did not deserve a draw , we hit the post twice as well , from the 45th minute to around 80 minutes we murdered them , they rarely got past the half way line , the last ten minutes they were chasing the game. They might have created a couple of half chances which we defended brilliantly , Legohead's team cannot score from open play , the goal they scored was a gift ,we went to a different level in the 2nd half and they couldnt live with us.

It's not a shootout for goal difference pal.

Your current form is awful and you have a Champions League Semi-Final sandwiched right in the middle of the Premier League fixtures at a time where you look extremely vulnerable.

I'd wager that you'll drop points in 2 of your last 5 games in the Premier League.
That's EXACTLY my take on it. Looking at their recent form, and I don't mean the last 2-3 matches, I'm going back to February in which even their wins were hard won (except Spurs which doesn't really count given their own form), it's hard to see Arsenal winning their last 5 and I find it puzzling that a lot of our fans are saying we have to win every game.

I’m sure he’s learnt his lesson and won’t be repeating the same mistake.
Wasn’t the best idea to send the thrown in to him either

Match stats say we had 12 shots to their 8, 5 on target to their 2, 8 corners to their 5 and 59% possession. That's not even taking into account the penalty we didn't get, the sending off that didn't happen and the fact that their goal only came from a one-off error. On what basis does any of that deserve a draw?

I thought it was a great game and we were great for large parts of it. We gifted them a goal and they got a bit of momentum after we made a mistake 2nd half, but on the whole I thought we controlled it. Rodri and Bernardo were outstanding as was Nico O'Reilly, who gets better and better with every game. It makes me proud to see a City academy product play like he is.

Hated the last 15 minutes but a fantastic result.

Tremendous game today, a real tussle. I thought City were fantastic in their effort, but like Stamford Bridge, had a few sloppy moments with the ball in the first half. But the Boys in Blue never gave in (cheers Eccles).

Rodri grew and Oreilly impressed but Silva takes the match gong. Haaland was great too. Semenyo wasn't his best but his physicality kept him on as long as he did. Cherki is a creative genius but faded from the game quite badly. Im skirting over Donna , i don't understand him.

I want Doku to release the ball earlier when he drifts inside into congested central areas, he seems to want to hold onto to it far too long in the middle.

Arsenal were better than I expected, I honestly thought they'd come for nil nil. They hit the post twice like us and that header at the end, my god, that should have been in really. I don't think they deserved a point but the game was quite well fought. Gabriel is a right twat and that butt is a red all day long, crazy decision.

Final word on Havertz: what a melt.
Amazing vision by Donna to release O'Reilly to set up our winning goal. If that late header been on target it looked like he had it covered.

What's Bruno Fernandes doing on this thread? :)

Its not interesting enough to keep going round in circles the ones that annoy you press the ignore button. People are free to post as they like as long as they dont break the forum rules.
Fans overreact whether on a forum, at the ground or in the pub, its really not that important. Have a good evening, I will.
Not bothered either, but you seem to be perfectly happy about what others are posting yet for reasons unknown you're having a pop at me. I don't know what I've said or done to get you to the point where you feel the need to call out what I've posted while in the same breath you're saying it's OK for fans to overreact and it's not that important. If they don't annoy you why are you so worked up about my post that you have to keep going on about it? If my post annoyed you just press the ignore button, don't keep banging on about it.
