Arsenal (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don't want to piss on anybody's chips after a great win over our title rivals, but it's NOW GAME ON

The job is not done and the remaining 6 games all need to be won and by more goals than Arsenal
Today is the start of the title push and we will still need a little bit of luck on the way.

Today is the day that we must not look at the Arsenal's results and say they will drop points ??
Today is the day you give Arsenal the 5 wins and the 15 points and hope we can outscore them
I haven't got a clue what's happened to you; you used to be such a positive poster.

What some of you might be overlooking is that our 2 final opponents Crystal Palace and Aston Villa might be involved in European finals. By the time Villa play us if they win their Final they will have qualified for next year's Champions League so they will already be on the beach. As for Palace their final if they get through would be on the 27th. I suspect for a club like Palace this might be a priority. Just a thought.
Its Everton and Bournemouth that are the most dangerous slip ups

The Arsenal we saw yesterday is their best version in a few months because they knew winning sewed it up. I think it boosted their game from the more tentative/ limp version of them we've seen of late. We've been flying of late but IMO still getting our wings and nowhere near soaring. They shot their shot and came up empty and would have likely lost by 3+ had Donna not had the gaffe.

I feel this will deflate them mightily and they will drop more points moving forward especially if we lay a marker at Burnley mid week.

City still need to stick to the next match most important mentality and take care of business.

It's a tough call, frankly. We can do it, but I still have them favourites, when I look at their run-in. The big imponderable — momentum.
Even on Sky yesterday it was discussed. It was stated that OPTA gave Arsenal a 73% chance of winning the league.

No one agreed, especially believe it or not Gary Chuckle. None of them thought it was in any way accurate.

Questions ALL the panel asked were: does it take into account fixtures to play, champions league games vs Athletico, home games, away games, games against teams with all (or nothing) to play for etc, etc, etc.

There are still too many games and too many variables still to play out. What about injuries, and as you say momentum?

Personally I don't think City AND Arsenal will both win all the games left. It may come down to who drops least points.

So the reading of yesterday’s game is Arsenal turned up and played well, attacked us and came away with their heads held high.
They are now set to kick on and win the league. Fuck me, we live in strange times.
Yes, I wonder whether " Arsenal turned up and played well, attacked us and came away ..... with absolutely nothing" so they would be better playing their usual "pragmatic" game for the rest of the season. After all they didn't really score a goal from open play: their goal came from a set piece (our bloody throw in) and that was that. As that wise old man of football, Roy Keane said about them playing well, this is Arsenal "we're talking about. They're top of the league. You should expect more than being satisfied with a few shots at goal. City were the better team and won.

Watching the game in the ground I thought everyone was immense, even Donna after his howler. Watching the game back this morning I thought Guehi, Semenyo and Doku were all down from their usual levels. Obviously their usual levels are pretty fucking high, but I didn't think any of them shone.

Haaland and Cherki I thought were fantastic, Bernie even more so but NOR I thought was just incredible.

And one thing I missed in the ground was after Cherki scored, there was just a little bit of goading the arsenal fans. Taylor had a word with him.

Which was about the only thing Taylor got right all game.
NOR was in exactly the right place on so many occasions throughout the game, really good to see.

It's not often I find myself agreeing with that rag thug, but he put that fuckin idiot Richards in his place when Mr Silly was trying to say Arsenal will take positives out of it. "They lost, they've now handed the initiative to City, no positives in dat".

Wouldn't lay that at their door. We were camping in to see it out and Arsenal were ramping up the tempo because they were desperate. Nico G made some good contributions, Foden was tidy and did his job, Savinho is a winger playing at full-back by that point in the game and definitely looked that way but it's not his fault. They all did alright imo.
I thought so too. Late in the game some f ours were dead on their feet hence the press dropped. Erling was absolutely knackered and no wonder.

Keane hates ferguson so much he's turned into a closet blue. Never says a bad word about us and tears strips off everyone else.
