Arsenal (H) Post Match Thread

Think people maybe under estimate how tired we were. That is why the final ball was a little off. Still a class above arsenal. Bit worried we have shaktar just before the derby. I would send a complete b team.
Beat feyenord and hopefully Napoli get something out of shakhtar and then we can do just that

Arsenal fans have to be having a laugh if they are trying to claim that was a robbery, I know all fans defend their club but you have to know when you've been outplayed and we weren't even in top gear either is the scary thing for them. They rested most of their players for Thursday's game and we just played a seriously demanding game in Napoli so it was a very decent performance considering, more than worthy winners in the end too.

A bit nervy until we got the third, but another good performance and huge 3 points, made even sweeter with the vermin losing. Never felt more like singing the blues ... !

I thought Fernandinho was brilliant today, he was everywhere.

Not our best performance, but a great result. Tiredness is effecting Kev's game but still he scored a super goal.

Pen for me as there was contact in the box. Bit lucky with the offside but how many bad decisions went against last season.

D Silvs MOTM imperious as ever.

You didn't but you did say..

I would, however, be fuming if Arsenal were given an offside goal like we got today.

Looking at it again would you be fuming:)
Yes, I would be fuming if Arsenal got an offside goal. I am a lifelong City supporter but I am no blind zealot. David was [just] off and so the goal shouldn’t of stood.

You wouldn’t have been angry had Arsenal gotten a goal against us today in the same way?

That said, you also ignored the fact that I said it was a clear penalty on Raheem and “**** Wenger (and Arsenal)” in regards to his tactics and hypocritical moaning, as well as posting a gif of our unfairly disallowed goal in the semi-final against them with the caption “Comeuppance”.

Ignoring the obvious chances to score like the Sterling chance in the first half with the shove in his back making him miss the ball, there were so many times where they were having lucky escapes with our final balls being off. De Bruyne looks leggy and had about 4 chances to play someone in for a one on one, easier passes to make than the ones he's been getting right game after game. There was also a 2 vs 1 where Sterling should have put Sané through on goal.

As for Arsenals main claims they were hard done by:

1) It was a penalty, yes he used his shoulder but it wasn't shoulder to shoulder it ended up being a body check in the back causing Sterling to fall(not a dive),
2) We should have had a penalty in the first half too but the ref didn't see it and it wasn't easy to spot in real time so we can forgive it,
3) Silva's right leg was the only part that was offside, a tight call that can be put down to giving the benefit of doubt to the attacker as they are supposed to do also it's pretty much the same as the point above a forgivable tight call for or against especially in the context of this game,
4) We were still wining the game and looking the most likely to score at that point of the match(control of the middle of the pitch) and we eased off after it, we don't ease off if the game isn't safe we most probably get the goal we were searching for or at least finish on top.

Worthy winners all day long.

Regroup and recover.

Absolutely magnificent opening to the season. Just get everyone fit and go again. This could be a special season.

Not the best performance but was always gunna be tough after such a big game against Napoli. Wengers comments are a joke - the guy is yesterdays news. He can get fucked.

I wouldn't say not the best. Arsenal were fuckin bobbins apart from a 10-15 min spell.

Then,in Mendy's case,we wouldnt have seen the wonderful resurrgence of Delph and the copius amounts of pie that have been devoured since :-)

He was good again today. Will admit I was one of his biggest critics. But a lot of games to come - needs some help.
