Arsenal (H) Post Match Thread

Agree about Silva, but KdB's passing wasn't as perfect as normal, there were a couple of goals missing because his final passes were an inch or two out. I thought he looked tired though, hence the non perfect final passes. I thought one or two looked tired by the end, but hardly surprising after the week we've had. I do hope they get some time off during this international break.

I think you are absolutely right, Kev was busting a gut to keep up the pace & it affected his final ball. He played one pass near the end where he would normally put it on a plate & he was holding his calf/stretching afterwards.

Definitely fatigue was a factor, for once I'm not complaining about the International break,it suits us perfectly.

That pass was pretty close to being nailed too, as I said a few inches out, he was definitely struggling with cramp in the last few minutes. I think we can forgive him, but he wasn't man of the match who ever voted for that.

I suppose his goal swayed people though & there is kind of an argument for it, as it was so important to get that breakthough. Then his workrate was awesome too.

I can see why some have gone for him, even though his passing radar was a bit off.

tried to explain to a mate how we'd looked a bit under-par for sections of the game, let Arse back into it when they scored and they were looking to push for a 2nd, not our finest win etc

his response was exactly as you've written. What have we become?!?

We have become something very special, and the beauty is we can bring 5/6 players into the team and they don't weaken us. Looking very strong with an amazing spirit

Wasn’t at 100% yesterday but still another win and against arsenal is a great result.
Really think the teams showing more resilience now and onwards we roll.

That bit is still to be proven imo.

Jesus certainly, but the others ? Pep has taken a (successful) gamble so far, by largely pushing a 'first 11' to the limit & getting us through all the early obstacles.

I think Gundogan & Bernardo are yet to prove, that they are as good as their counterpart in the 'first' 11.

Not saying they can't, just that it's not a certainty, yet.

Hope delph drops out of the England squad so he can recover

I get what you're saying but put yourself in Delph's shoes. He pulled out of the previous squad, if he pulls out of this one he can more or less book his summer holidays because he'll have ruled himself out of England's World Cup squad. Whatever we think of England's chances, Southgate or wanting our players to rest over the summer, going to a World Cup has got to be right up there for a player.

I think Gundogan proved it last season. And against West Brom this season, he was fantastic right until he got nobbled. I think he could be one our very finest players. Bernado, I agree has yet to prove it, although he certainly looks the part in my eyes.

But who is Gundogan equal to or better than, as a direct replacement out of the 11 who played v Arsenal ? Imo, nobody.

Right, where's this SIlva gif of him running Circles in midfield? I've gone back 10 pages but couldn't see it. Anyone help?

agreed, Its been nice to be almost able to name his starting 11 (unlike last season) however we do have quality on the bench. Gundogan is quality on the ball, dont forget a long lay off and B Silva will improve as he gets used to the physicality of the prem. Danilo is a great addition to come in and we still have Kompany and Mendy missing

I think he’s injured though. I get the pressure on him but I hope he doesn’t go half fit and if he does go I hope Southgate is sensible. The dilemma delph has is that if he goes and provokes that injury he may put our season in jeopardy for the sake of a couple of friendlies. Deli Ali has pulled out, and yes I know he’s a guaranteed starter but he’s putting club first and so should delph in this situation

I think it's quite important now to start getting some minutes for the likes of Bernado and Gundogan. Obviously cracking players but will still need time to integrate into the team, get used to how players play, etc. Every time we drop them in for KDB or Silva we're going to get a bit of a drop off in performance. Nothing against them just the realities of not playing as much.

And for all the talk of Sanchez in January I really would love proper cover for Fern. That guy has really put the miles in for us over the seasons and even the fittest players will drop off.
