Arsenal (H) | Post Match Thread

The most complete team performance in a big game that I have seen in a long, long time.

Erling Haaland showed that he is the best striker in the world by a stretch, complemented by the best midfielder in the world for at least the last few seasons.

Not a single player took the night off, they left it all out on the field, and it looked almost comfortable, because of how brilliant they played.

We were fortunate that Martinelli and Saka didn’t play.

Oh wait!!!

Guardiola played another Masterclass by playing the same team (minor tweak to replace Ake) in a different way…through the weak (soft) middle of Arsenal instead of down the wings, while Walker & Akanji completely pocketed Arsenal’s wide men and COMPLETELY shutting off Arsenal’s only serious point(s) of attack.

City nullified Martinelli, Saka, Ødegaard, & Partey, shutting off the service to Jesus.

They couldn’t handle OUR press, while we were imperious in breaking theirs by Haaland and KDB coming short through the middle before playing it wide in behind their press.

From soup to nuts, best 95 minute performance in years for me.

And, honorable mention (in a team where there may have been multiple MOTM performances!) to Akanji. Stepped across the back line, right to left, and literally shut down the media’s darling right winger!

Who are Arsenal’s best 3 players?
Ødegaard
Saka
Martinelli

Who did they have to drag off? :-)

Seriously, much as I’ve written a lot, I really don’t have words to describe just how SPECIAL that PERFORMANCE was.

No club IN THE WORLD could stand with us when we play like that. NO CLUB!

This image gave me a semi.

Unfortunately, City and Arsenal fans share the local pub in San Francisco.

Oh, excuse me.

I mean FORTUNATELY.

Arsenal fans outnumbered us 20 to 1.

What a bunch of twats.

Their loudest cheer was when they thought the Stones goal was ruled out for offside.

In fact, they started singing "VAR VAR."

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you fucking cement bags.

Take that you fucking pretenders.

Got to feel for Rob Holding. A goal and assist at the Etihad but still on the losing side. Always good to see Haaland bullying the opposition and I love how he always seems first to defend a team mate.

Big win for Pep giving Arteta an absolute schooling with how we used Haaland and KdB and if we played Arsenal every week we'd win 38 games a season.

2012 and United's collapse is still fresh in my memory so we have a little finger on the trophy for me rather than a whole hand but I'm not anticipating any last day dramas this year.

Arsenal seemed to be lacking in belief today. When they had spells of possession they rarely forced an issue or ran at our back line.

Also Im going to keep banging this drum but Phil Foden's first touch is Mahrez level
For me, we confirmed we have a very big hand on the pot tonight. Arsenal have been lacking belief for weeks, twice with early two goal leads to drop points in both games, another draw, and now a 4-1 defeat? 3 points in 4 matches at this stage of the season says to me that they lost any belief they had a while ago.
