Arsenal (H) | Post Match Thread

Arsenal simply had no answer to our intensity and pressing last night and in the first half we just blew them away. That was a vital win and gives us a bit of wriggle room bearing in mind we still have Brentford and Brighton to play, but the way we are performing I wouldn't put it past this team to win all our remaining PL games.

Too true. The tinkering worked so well. Akanji left back had saka out of the match, great doubling up and hard work from Jack too. A formation that looked like 3223 at times totally flummoxed Arsenal. Bringing walker back in not Laporte. Benching a hat trick hero. Getting Haaland to drop deeper. Kev playing higher up. Incredible. Arsenal champions elect for months had no answer.

How the fuck did we get Ekanji for £15m, Saka who was being touted as player of the year hardly got a kick. Starting Walker was a masterstroke as Martenelli never got in the game, those two made it an easy night for Ruben and gave Stones plenty of licence to step into midfield and help Rodri stifle Odegaard, which meant Arsenal had only two shots on target.

I was also impressed with Jacks willingness to double up on Saka, Bernardo did the same with Martenelli, the energy those two showed summed up our performance. Rodri and Gundo bossed the middle of the park and you could see the frustrations of Partey and Xhaka. That dominance meant Jesus was anonymous and gave us the platform to hit Haaland who now looks more and more like an old fashioned target man. The way he bullied Holding was astonishing and his use of the ball was superb, two assists for the big fella and Kev took them both like only Kev does, genius. It was interesting we played Kev almost as a second striker off Haaland it worked they scared the Arsenal back four to death and Haaland got his goal as well.

The treble is now on big time and the only team who can stop us is ourselves. If we carry on playing as we did last night we win the lot.

Prematch this game was lablelled as the top two in in PL. Second was hardly in it last night.

3 bookable offences during the match - not booked once. How the fuck did Oliver let him get away with it?
Simple! That's what Oliver has done since he started. Mind, he's not the only whistling wanker who seems to think only sky blue players deserve a booking. The most laughable was five minutes after booking Rodri he sees nothing wrong in Haarland getting taken out. Rodri was booked a few games back when Sooper Hooper started counting up the fouls, two of which belonged to John Stones(!), and how many serial-offending Arse players escaped when they'd clouted one of ours with the intention of making sure our man wasn't around to figure in the 'denouement' of the move?

Who did Partey not get booked in the first half, then when he was booked committed a yellow offence straight after! Not even subtle anymore.

We've had umpteen teams turn up and get treated like royalty by refs. City players have been 'kicking off' more this season than any I can remember, and it's down to refs not treating our players the same way as the opposition. How many times have away teams kicked the shite out of Bernardo, and he's ended up getting booked 'cos he has a pop, instead of the ref booking the opposition thug? How many of our players take one for the team only for an opposition player getting fuck all for the same offence?

He might not have put a couple of his chances away but in terms of his all round play, I thought that was Haaland’s best game for City and by a distance.

His hold up play & lays offs were near perfection and he always seemed to make the right choice as to where he was placing the ball to.

He totally deserved his goal in the end and he’s only going to get better and that will scare the shit out of our opponents.
