Pep Guardiola on decisions at left-back: "It depends on the game, the performance of each player, the physical condition - many, many things. I take a decision on who is going to play

Let’s just null and void the season

We won a league title with Kev injured for ten months?

We will be okay, if anything, it's now a chance for Bernardo to remind a few what a great player he is.

Kev has had his flashes this season, no doubt, but I've been shocked at his levels of completion so far?

Clearly not rested properly and had just nine days break.

Ffs journos trawling BM !

Still no Jesus which is worrying... A lot of us, myself included, I think don't really realize how good/important he is until he's not out there and you have to watch Sterling try and hold the ball up.. Hope he's back soon.

Sounds like Sergio could well get minutes on this game. Certainly wouldn't put it past Pep to start Sergio.
So with KDB and Gabby out our squad is still incredibly strong.
2-1 City.

We’ll need a worldie out of Mendy (assuming he starts, as I think he will). They’ll definitely be targeting that side.

I'm hoping its Ake that's starting left back. Part of me thinks Pep is going to match Arteta with a 3-5-2.

Eddie

Walker
Ake
Dias
Laporte
Mendy

Rodri
Bernardo
Foden

Torres
Sterling

I fancied us to shade it 2-1, but now Kevs out and no strikers

No KDB then. I don't think Agüero would start but maybe he will be introduced later

You still have Mendy in there ;)
I hope he starts Ake too, I’d like to see how he does at LB.

KDB has looked tired, unfit and I doubt he's overweight but he looks...ploddy? Everything good he's done has mostly been moments of magic at a walking pace, like the cross he put in vs. England.

A good rest will do him good.

KDB out is a huge blow but at least if we can’t rely on him to be our sole creator, we might have to actually change our approach going forward which can only be a good thing.

Ive also no idea why every second post in here is suggesting Arsenal will target Mendy. we’ve played them twice under Arteta and they actually targeted our right side more on both occasions. Aubameyang is the danger man, most of their game against the better sides goes through him and he plays on the left. Similarly to Leeds where the front 3 and midfield were to blame for us dropping points, Mendy just seems to be the go to fall guy even when left back hasn’t been the area of the pitch that’s caused us to drop points.
