Pep Guardiola on Arsenal (H): "Really good to be here. A really important game because we can get points and they focus on what they have to do. We played two times this season and in the past as well. They have been really tight game and really difficult..." [via

Pep Guardiola: "Arsenal always have incredible details and care with the ball. The players they select are of the biggest qualities and Mikel brings a different dimension. So aggressive..." [

Pep Guardiola on Arsenal (H): "It's really important. Not decisive. A lot of tough games for both sides but we can't deny how important it is

You know those anti-climactic performances we always have away vs Spuds, we never get going. Thats how Arsenal play at the Etihad, whether they come in red-hot form or dissarray they wont get out of 2nd gear.

Bayern are the best team to come to the Etihad since Pool in 19, truth be told Erling and Gundo missed big chances, the game should have been over before in the 1st half. If we did that to Bayern, Arsenal dont have a chance, if Arteta is smart he'll play a double-pivot to protect those two bozos in CB and play for a draw, wont work though, they're getting battered.
Admire your over confidence but Arsenal absolutely have a chance and if we let their wingers run riot we will be punished. We have the better team no doubt but there's reason why they are top of the table. Great team with a very good manager. I think we'll just about win but its going to be epic.

I like the lineup although Stones vs Martinelli would be a bit of a worry.

Maybe swap Akanji and Stones as Akanji's pace and strength may match up better vs Martinelli?
Expecting the same as the Bayern game,Akanji centre back, Stones in midfield dropping back to centre back Akanji shifting across to right back out of possesion.

Pep Guardiola on selling Zinchenko and Jesus to Arsenal: "The club made the decisions they believe. Everyone agreed. The players wanted to leave, the club wanted to sell, and the club wanted to buy... They're happy and we're happy. No regrets

Pep Guardiola on
@ErlingHaaland
: "I've said many times; exceptional. We have been very impressed with how he's behaved, his mood and his love for #ManCity. Exceptional. [How do Arsenal stop him?] I don't know, I didn't speak to him [Mikel Arteta]." [via

Pep Guardiola on #ManCity vs Arsenal: "It will not be a game when one team has 65/70% possession. It's not going to happen..

Gomez was getting minutes here and there ahead of Rico for a couple of months now (5vs2 since the end of Feb). Too many people were acting like he was ready right after he turned 18 to play in the best side in the world. There is a handful of players in the world who could do that. He looked the part but was targeted a lot in attack, for a good reason, too. Top talent, but not ready to be 1st choice by any means. When Pep says he looks like little Lahm, he means one day in the future, after he puts years of work into his game to motivate him. Rico is a local lad, so people want to see him succeed and look at him through a set of blue-tinted glasses. If he continues his progress, his time will come sooner rather than later.

The playing Rico ahead of Walker at that time was tactical.
Even without the blue tints on I recon that Rico is brilliant for his age, a brave and very classy player with massive potential, but of course Walker is a better football player, he’s an established top level international with oodles of experience and speed to die for.
However, IMO it wasn’t about who was the better player, they’re just different is all. Rico works better in midfield than Walker does and Pep was using his particular talents to allow us to play in a way that he can’t with a more traditional right back.
IMO nothing more to it than that and I for one am very chuffed indeed to have them both in our squad.
