Arsenal Post Match Thread.

Happy with a point...poor performance today! Cant believe how many passes we messed up! Happy to just get to the summer transfer window with a top 4 finish and then we can move on from 5 or 6 of these players....

I would be if we hadn't be saying the same for the last 2 seasons.

For me game was lost when yaya came on for sterling. Yaya just is not the player he was, age has made a difference. His touch and around play was not good enough. Goodbye and thanks for the fish.

I didnt say we deserved anything.......i said it was a penalty.

you see them given...you see them not given..if it had been against us then i would have argued equally that it wasnt a penalty

I dont like to rely on what we cannot effect (ie the decsion of the ref and pure chance).

I like to look at what we do or what we dont do......today that was mainly retaing possession and giving simple passes....both we were shocking at today. Ive not seen anyone concentrating on those things today and all people want to do is ignore it and concentrate on something that we cannot effect and no ammount of moaning about will ever change.....

I am loathe to say it (and I may be wrong) but I can't see Pep being too angry. A performance like that's needs a bacon face style purple veined nose busting rant in the changing rooms. Not acceptable at all.

Looking at the bench, who realistically can change a game for City? That's the question. Players will be shipped probably. Hopefully. As players with winning mentality needed.
Iheanacho and Fernando weren't even selected and as far as we know aren't injured. There were three defenders on the bench, one of whom is fairly likely to get injured by the end of the game. Nolito could have created.

I said I'd take a draw before the game so I'm not too disappointed, but I thought it was obvious Arsenal didn't fancy it today and our general lack of composure throughout the game was worrying. It was the kind of game a good side wins comfortably, which shows how much work the management team have got to do in summer.

Be honest did you take the same tact against Chelsea and Spurs as I'm having deja vu here.

Too many blues defending shit/biased refereeing after too many big games because they want to have a good moan at the players about the performance or wasted chances. It's a fact we'd have more points had we got the right calls in too many big games this season, it's nothing to do with if you or I feel we "deserved it" because we were "wasteful with the chances we had" or just looked flat or didn't want it enough... it's about big calls going against us time and time again, I'd rather have those calls and the points and then we address the performance from a better position.

i did wth chelsea...not with spurs though......we were unluck y against spurs but still teh architects of our own failure with shocking defending but we pplayed well that day in a lot of other areas.......

vs chelsea the reffing decsions were poor but like i said,,,you cannt rely on that..you have to look at what you can effect and again in areas that day we were poor in the second half

Fuming, same old weaknesses flaky defence, not seeing a game out. We lack leadership, someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck and win the game when the opposition are there for the taking.

Fa Cup win and top 4 will do for me. But there is a long way to go this season before this happens with this group of players. Saying that we were screwed by Mariner again at the end of the game that was a penalty

I thought fernandinho was our motm I thought Navas did ok against one of the best players in the league (with not much help) Yaya has just ruled out his contract extension in my eyes..apart from that it was a defo penalty and coq au vin should have gone. Put sanchez in that team and we win.

Never mind a defensive overhaul, we need to go back to basics pre-season and work on the defence. We won't win anything and certainly not the CL without sorting that out. Then sort out the midfield then we can think about the forwards. Personally, this all needs rebuilding and will take at least two years. It all started with not building on the first league success, and since then every manager has had to make do, or the buys we have made in general have been poor. We had a chance of creating a legacy and we didn't build on it. Totally confused where the academy fits into our plans and we will see pre-season if there is any faith shown there. Some of the targets for next season if the media is to be believed are underwhelming and cheaper options. However, could all be media talk so let's wait and see. Too many players today know they won't be here next year and the performance showed. Not sure that KDB fits into the system but you could say that about a few. If we miss out on CL and don't win the cup it has been a poor season, but I think this will take Pep a lot longer than some think to sort this mess out. Today was frustrating as we may not get this people chance to play such a poor Arsenal side again for a while. We can't afford to let the season slide as there is still plenty to play for. Looks like we are going to need our patience again.

That's one of the games where you would have thought the players would need no motivating for, and yet we were just coasting at 1-0 and 2-1 up. Why was that? Were they just off form?

Arsenal's home record is very very good despite their bad run.

For all this talk about how we didn't go for it, is that really the case? We committed plenty of men forward on the attack but as usual the final ball wasn't there.

That's as good as I've ever seen us play away at Arsenal in all honestly but we'll continue to struggle to win games like that until we strengthen at the back.

fully agree ont he leadership thing as well

not one of them out there is capable and ahs the charachter to do so....

if kompnay cannt come bak then we need to sign a new capt as well as new players

Sloppy passing and a lack of energy and/or desire.
Not having players on the posts at corners (or similar free kicks) always costs us at some point so I don't know why Pep sometimes does it and sometimes doesn't - everytime Pep please, everytime.
As to our defending if you play with a single DM, you just can't do it with slow fullbacks and AM's and wingers have to pick up runners to help out. Walcott had a couple of gist edged opportunities today as a result.
Our squad needs to be dramatically overhauled to play the way Pep wants it.

Nolito and Iheanacho who wasn't even selected
