We're a bit shit at the moment. There's no getting around it.

Are injuries an excuse or is there more to it?

Hull got around it twice ;)

Surely injuries can't be an excuse again this season? Have they had many so far?

The lack of a decent defensive midfielder and (less so now) striker stick out still to all except Wenger. I wouldn't mind so much if Wenger tried to play a system without DM's and wouldn't accept it wasn't working, but he plays with them and won't get one who is up to the level they need. Its truly baffling.

Will they get top 4?

They look pretty bad, we are shit, and the rags are unbalanced, but Arsenal are quietly getting away with being very underwhelming.

On paper there's no reason why they can't fall out of the top 4. But the way the rags used to figure out winning the league is how Arsenal now figure out winning 4th place.

But title contenders? Having a laugh and so was anyone that seriously said that going into the season.

I wonder if missing out a UCL place will spark a panic-buying spree where they buy 50M players from their academy like the Rags did.

We and the Rags have injuries too. You had injuries last season and still won the league. I hate it when people use injuries as excuses. Cliche but on balance over the season it does even out.

What Arsenal wouldn't give for a proper centre half, a proper powerhouse midfielder and a proper striker.

No Arsene, you are NOT getting Kompany, Toure and Aguero. Or Mangala, Fernando or Dzeko for that matter. That's where you lack badly.

Arsenal never recovered from Vieira, Henry and Adams not playing there any more.

Arsenal have no steel, but startlingly no plan b, if they cant pass through a team they lack an alternative to breaking them down.
There should only be one way of breaking a team down and that's passing through them, or going round them, and Arsenal's wide play is as good as City's.

I think they fall short because their squad is very unbalanced in key positions and therefore exposed to injury. And they've lacked a defensive midfield for a decade. Wenger doesn't seem to think it's necessary yet he had three of the best in Vieira, Petit and Gilberto.
