City have shat the bed this season so Arsenal have to win the league. No ifs and buts, Arteta has been given a fortune to spend. If he finishes 2nd to Liverpool it's a massive failure and we should expect City back to being City next season, so and opportunity wasted.

Some of our failures are coaching based - eg how long we spend on throw ins is clearly coached. Timber has had 2 yellows this season for taking too long on thrown ins and was banned from the Brighton game. Had he been at right back and Partey in midfield no way do we draw that. But because of stupidity led by the coaches he was missing. I mean getting a yellow for taking too long on a throw in - that's pathetic.

You could argue for and against that penalty incident but he is talking about " generational " decisions against arsenal now.

You’re bit of a cheeky fucker claiming City have shat the bed after our exploits over the last 6 out of seven seasons especially given the body of work your mob of chokers have produced.

This manager and this group of players haven't taken the club over the line to win the Premier League. It's looking likely that Arsenal will fail to win it again this season unless Liverpool have a massive drop off.

Liverpool aside, Arsenal haven't been good enough this season, What an opportunity to get your hands on it this season with so many other teams not performing.

Football divides opinion that's how it is, You want Arteta to stay whilst others want him gone. It's basically a case of, Do the club continue to back him financially for the next two or three years and possibly not win the league in that period OR Do you give him until the end of this season and access the situation.
 
Artetas a top manager imo and the only reason Arsenal are halfway relevant they were a complete shambles and the laughing stock of the League before he came in.

I said you shat the bed this season. Which is true. Nobody expected anything other than City vs Arsenal for the title.

The fact City have dropped off a cliff and yet Arsenal are 9 points off a team who has a brand new manager and spent nothing in pre season is a bad reflection on Arteta. Arsenal have much easier fixtures than Liverpool so in theory could claw it back but come on if you watch the current Arsenal team on TV they don't look like a title winning team and aren't as good as last season. Arteta has had a fortune to spend on players, is on a huge salary and unfortunately the name of the game is winning - you have to turn that investment into trophies. Then if your main rival has an absolute nightmare yet you don't take advantage then questions need to be asked.

I reckon Arteta will play a reserve team against Newcastle in the EFL and the Rags in the FA Cup and we'll go out of both as a result. So he's therefore got to win the league or the CL and we aren't anywhere near a CL winning team - the league is an outside bet. There's a reason we are 6-9 points behind the Dippers and that reason is we deserve to be - we haven’t been good enough. Sure there have been some unusual refereeing decisions but we weren't good enough to beat Brighton and actually could have lost that game.

The last 2 seasons we were exciting to watch. This season we've played regimented tedious shite. So boring. Occasionally we turn it on - like the 10 minutes at the start of the 2nd half at Brentford when we murdered them but usually it's just a load of sideways passing, interminably long throw ins (30 seconds left of injury time vs Brighton, we get a throw in and Partey takes 20 seconds!). F*ck this shit, we're better than that. I'm bored watching our games now.

Like I said, City will finish above them. City will finish either 2nd or 3rd. City's fixture list from Feb onwards is a nice one - I can see City finishing above us as you've got form for turning 6 point deficits on Arsenal around!

Fifth will get CL this season I reckon. I can't see City finishing below third - you're currently 3 points off Forest and they are overachieving and will drop and Chelsea are too inconsistent.

Dropped off a cliff is the right terminology. I don't think you can claim a side who have made history in winning 4 titles in a row then shits the bed when they lose form. Particularly when you consider the number of injuries we've suffered this campaign.
 
I never thought this season would be between City and Arsenal.
I never consider Arsenal as serious contenders anymore. They don’t even wait for season end to bottle it anymore.
I reckoned they’d be fourth with the title between City and Liverpool who are infinitely better than the tarquins.

We're benefitting from the fact there's such a long "mid table" with so many teams beating each other. It's a bit like the Championship. A good spell of form lifts you right back up the table - see Newcastle.

Bar is usually a bit higher for 4th place.

67-70pts is usually good enough for 4th so we need to double our total at least.

We had 23pts from our first 9 games and then picked up 5pts from our next 9. The last two wins haven't been comfortable at all and the issues we've had aren't resolved.

It's going to be incredibly difficult to make the top 4... if 5th gets CL then that might be what's needed.
