Looks like Zubimendi will be added to an already talented midfield. Just need a top CF and they should be set up to have a go next season.
I think they peaked two seasons ago and missed a golden opportunity last season with us being shite and the dippers just being efficient rather than spectacular.

Terminating the contract of Tomiyasu, nice to see they treat their injured players well and help them recover from bad injuries....

with him gone, Tierney too, zinchenko likely off, they'll need some more defensive cover. Zubimendi and norgaard seem to be replacements for partey and jorginho, kepa coming in as their back up keeper, that's a big chunk of their budget already gone and i's say they're worse off for it.

Considering they are quite possibly the worst sellers in the division that bring in barely anything in transfers, that's not going to leave them with a lot of room to improve.

They'll get a striker and that will improve them but that's not enough. Unless the dippers implode like we did, it feels like their chance has been and gone.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the dippers, us, Newcastle, Chelsea are all finishing above them this season.
Supposedly we have £150m-£200m to spend. Striker at £70m. Eze at £60m (likely). Zubimendi at £45m. Norgaard at £10m. Rodrygo at £70m (possible). Mosquera £20m (likely). Maybe Madueke at £50m or so (fuckin' hope not). If Rodrygo comes in we'll sell Martinelli for £45m or so. Madueke would be an idiotic signing as we already have Saka there and young Nwaneri who has now postponed contract talks until he gets more clarity on proposed game time next season - Nwaneri has far more potential than Madueke. Supposedly City might be in for Nwaneri if that happened.

£70m seems like a hell of a lot for the calibre of striker you're linked with, although if theres a bidding war then that complicates things. Doesn't zubimendi have a £51m release clause you've got to pay? Assuming that's done, add in norgaard and kepa and thats £70m just to replace players that have left you for free and I dont even think it makes you any better either. Add in the cost of replacing the defenders you've also released and thats over half of the apparent budget just to at best stand still.

Based off the fact you barely spent last season which in my eyes was clearly because of psr constraints after big prior spending, just taking the money that you spent from the year that now rolls off the psr calculations and given you again dont appear to have the potential to bring much in, that budget seems reasonable to me.

Best part of £100m to stand still at best, then of the remaining money, most of it surely goes on a striker and there is not much left after that.

Think Eze would be a good signing but he would be mad to want it. No guarantee of a starting spot vs being the main guy for a tidy palace side on the rise with an England spot genuinely up for grabs feels like an awful decision on his part.

Is rodrygo anything other than a pipe dream? Feels like he just wants a better Madrid contract. Can't see how we would be interested in Nwaneri if hes reluctant to commit to arsenal because of a lack of guaranteed playtime, he'd be even further down the pecking order here.

Nwaneri would get more minutes at City IMHO assuming on the right side of midfield Silva is nearly done. Cherki isn't starting ahead of him on that side. He's just unlucky he's got Saka ahead of him at Arsenal. He's like 90% of the player Saka is already and he's just turned 18 with plenty of development to come and will be a better player than Saka when he's in his 20s. Already his long range shooting is miles ahead of Saka's.

I think you’re building Nwaneri up a tad too much there.
