Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Re Declan Rice, he is an all round good egg and does a lot for charity. He's also made himself available to talk to Arsenal fans who are having suicidal thoughts - the idea being getting it off your chest and having someone listen to you can put off the suicidal thoughts in the darkest moment.

He's also known for being friendly to all Arsenal employees- from the Board down to the cleaners, he stops to say hello and chat with them all. Important when we have so many kids coming through that they get a role model and example of how to behave.
Well then he’s even more of a decent lad than I first thought.
Didn’t he give away a bonus or something to charity.

Have no gripe with rice decent all rounder albeit a bit over rated and seems a good guy would have loved him here think he would have done well.

Goalkeepers time wasting and not being given a yellow card is a bit of an issue for me that I can't seem to shake off. I've lost count of the times we as a home crowd have made our voices heard about the opposition keepers doing it. In contrast to when we are one goal in front and Ederson dares takes his time twice in a game and is carded instantly.

Since 2012/13 when we have completely dominated the English game winning 7 titles and playing some of the best football ever seen and blowing teams away where the need for us to time waste has been virtually non-existent would it surprise you to know that from 2012 - February 2023 (the only records i can find) Ederson is the joint second keeper with most yellow cards on 7 and even more crazy is that he didn't join City until 2016. And the following season 23/24 he received a further 5 yellow cards. It's nothing short of farcical. Us and Liverpool are about the only two teams in this period that hardly ever wasted much time and always wanted the ball in play.

Now we've had Donarumma in only his third game here being carded. And these yellows haven't been issued in the 89th minute like most others. We get them early on into games. It's another easy non-noticeable way of refereeing us differently It really does piss me off!

And once again a City keeper gets booked for time wasting very early on compared to most other keepers. Donnarummas second yellow in about 5 games now its ridiculous.

I have to say I thought Olympiakos were no mugs last night. I'd not want to play them in Greece. Do you guys have them in the CL this year?

Arsenal will win the league, their squad is too strong now and they're the most motivated team.

Doubt they will win the CL though, other teams in Europe stronger right now.

To be honest, I don't think many City are bothered who we play, home or away. Different mindsets for different clubs I suppose. Not being flippant by the way.
Pretty sure most City fans don't look forward to a visit to Anfield or the Bernebeu. Our fans only really worry about the Etihad and St James' Park.

City fans are very sensitive to our own sides frailty and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Our side effectively broke up last season but we have gone some way in rebuilding. The unknown is the extent to which Rodri recovers.

Arsenal have a great chance of winning the title this season.

Yeah I think this is fair. I also think you're currently using Haaland more effectively than you have for a while, Foden seems to have re-found his mojo and Doku also seems to have stepped up. With Rodri, you may not see him at his best this season. We had Timber have an identical injury in his 1st game for us, he was out the whole season, came back for the start of the next season but could only realistically play 60 minutes a match before fading. I imagine Rodri will have to go through a similar process.

City are the big unknown for me this season. I'm confident we will finish above Liverpool. City seem inconsistent and if that continues we'd most likely finish above you too but if you get the players to click and be consistent then you truly do have some absolute world class players and could easily go on one of those unstoppable runs. I think probably it may be next season before we see City at their real level but an on song, playing at their best Haaland, Foden, Rodri and Gvardiol (plus Donnarumma) is an immovable object and if they all click this season then you've as good a chance as anyone.

Liverpool aren’t even playing well and have already beaten you. Fans are so reactive these days. Arsenal have shown their hand whether it’s good enough to win the league we will see. If Liverpool click they will be dangerous and to me our biggest threat.

I predict you will have a half decent run up until Christmas, shit your knickers again, blame the grass being too green, Saka will have a little limp and you'll soon be back to being one of our feeder clubs.
