Arsenal thread | 2025/26

If you look at things logically, and not through the prism of a City or Arsenal fan, about 5 years ago there was a massive gap in quality between City and Arsenal, there wouldn't be a single Arsenal player even in the conversation of a combined team.

Over the next few years Arsenal started adding quality to the point that they ended up becoming City's rivals in the league. Then over the last couple of years City have dropped from 1st to 3rd, and I don't think it's outlandish to say that's because in these transition seasons the players they've brought in aren't as good as the players they have replaced, (YET) which were some of the greatest the league has seen.

So while I'm not a big fan of the combined XI chat, it would at least be debatable now when it certainly wasn't before surely?
But you’ve still won nothing

They're only loud if you are actively seeking them out. Block them or stay off Twitter altogether like a sane person and they're completely silent.

Ehh I disagree, anyone mid 20s and below basically grew up on social media. At this point it’s unrealistic to just say that people should just block it out imo.

And even if they do, friends, family and/or teammates will almost certainly be reading it. It’s simply too big to avoid.

Some clubs have gotten giddy when we took a year off actually challenging for the title, wanting City to do poorly isn't the same as it actually happening.

Arsenal with their over excitable manager and team of time wasting unsportsmanlike players are going to blow it again. If we win it and there is every chance we will we wont get much credit either.

Arsenal blew it
Liverpool didn't turn up
Filthy oil cheats
When Pep goes etc etc etc

I wouldn't bother about getting credit from rivals. Every club feels the same, Scousers often get COVID title thrown at them, or last year was a Pep transition year. We'll get set pieces FC thrown at us as well if we were to win it, doesn't bother me.

Come back when Arsenal have won something

But you’ve still won nothing

True, and I totally get that, but we are comparing current teams, which includes a number of players that haven't won anything at City either, and that's the point we are trying to make.

Like I said it was opinion. And BTW I didn't mean Haaland would be the only City player in a combined XI I meant he'd be the only one that was so obviously better than his Arsenal counterpart that it's a no-brainer whereas for other players it is a tighter call.

That being said in your list you are essentially saying Doku is better than Eze (ok that's possible) and Nunes is better than Timber (I'm sorry but in no way is that possible!). The rest is a matter of opinion but I'd not be disappointed if those players played for us.
With the exception of players signed from Manchester City, Doku and Nunes individually have won more Premier League winners medals than the rest of Arsenal's squad combined.

If you pull out of a international game because of supposed injury you shouldn’t be able to play the next premier game!

We all know this, Gabriel is a doubt for Arsenal next game it a lie he will be fit! They cheat in games so why anyone thinking he is injured they are wrong..

I thought about this the other day. But you can’t have a starting point that players, doctors and physios are dishonest - that’s a slippery slope

However, what I would say. Is if you pull out of a squad between the last club game and the first national team game, you should not be able to play in the next league game

I don’t think that is calling medical staff dishonest, I think that’s mitigating club/country row - Newcastle ‘lost’ Gordon and Hall, I believe. They shouldn’t be able to play V us

Doesn’t sound workable, though. If you genuinely twist your ankle so can’t play for a week but are fit in 2 weeks - we can’t really have a secret police monitoring minor injuries

You’ve already shown yourself to be a know nothing fukwit when you didn’t realise that last season was the only season you finished above us recently. 3 points more after we had a horrendous few months with 14 players out this time last season. You’ve got giddy on the back of starting the season well but you’ve made the same mistake that the Scousers have often made, you think good form is permanent. You’ve made no allowances for fatigue, loss of form, confidence & the fact you’ve shown for the last 3 seasons your form deteriorated after Xmas.

Can anyone remember the last time Pep didn’t win the title for consecutive seasons? Has it ever happened? This is the biggest worry for Arsenal that the best manager on the planet is coming off the back of a season without the title.
