Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Not giddy at all mate. Happy where we are, think we are better equipped squad wise than previous seasons to try and last the distance, but fully appreciate it's early and many things can happen, and that even if you think you have a good squad, injuries to your key players can make a big difference.

Also fully aware that even though City were in a bit of a transition, you look like getting into a rhythm now and showing consistency and especially with Pep as manager and Haaland putting up freak numbers you'll be right up there again.

Are you the guy that comes on giving it the big 'en, but then totally vanishes when you mess it all up and someone else wins the league?

Steady on. Cazorla is to Gunners what Silva is to City - a club legend that other fans don't appreciate. Sadly Cazorla was struck down by injuries all too often but was a fab player when the lad was fit.
There's a difference between being a fab player for a club and having a statue outside the ground. I thought Cazorla was a fab player but he was no Dave Silva. Try to keep it real if you want to be taken seriously

Na mate, i don't post as much in general as i used to, but i certainly wasn't coming on here giving it big licks, i do know who you are on about though, as i often was the collateral damage on the pushback on him, and actually was 1 of the reasons i stopped posting as much, so I actually posted more frequently when we were flitting between 4th & 8th than i did when we were challenging. Also, it's a bit less hostile when your sh!te lol.

Still occasionally post in the Rangers & Celtic threads but even then not as frequently as before.

Agreed.

After a £billion spend of dirty Emirati oil money, you'd like to think you've made an improvement

The point I was trying to make though was that Silva wasn't as appreciated by fans of other clubs. Same with Cazorla. I'm not trying to make a comparison between how good either were compared to each other.

Interestingly fans of other clubs seem to really rate both Wilshere and Fabregas. At the risk of getting ostracised by Gunners fans both were very good players but I don't think either were generational talents.

Genuinely the best players I've seen play for us were Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires and Van Persie. I'd put them up against anyone that's played in the league. Perhaps Alexis Sanchez too for a couple of seasons before his head got turned by the Rags and his career went to shit.

Well you say that GD, but it's not a given, spending a £billion has not really helped Spurs or Utd that much, & £2 billion hasn't really propelled Chelsea back to the top.

Although they can all say they've at least won a cup in the last 5 years, so that's something.

Oof. Leaving that one well alone, just to say though that our funding is Good 'ol Yankee dollars. 'Greatest currency in the world. A currency the likes of which has never been seen before'.

Mate your ground is called the Emirates, you're kit has the name on it. You even have Emirates air stewards welcoming you're team on to the pitch. Id say you're spending more dirty oil dirhams than Yankee dollars

True spending money is not a guarantee for success as Arsenal have proved. But you're a Gunner on a City forum, bragging that you've gone up a couple of places in the league by scoring from corners. After spending £billions on players.

Well it's been 11 league games so not really long enough to make a sound judgement but re the new signings I think both Zubimendi and Gyokeres are sorely missed when they are missing from the team and only then do our fans realise what we have.

Eze has been a bit 'meh', Madueke looks decent but end product is noticeably worse than Saka. Mosquera has looked good when he comes in but in every match has made one big error (and for the rest of it played well). Hincapie looks like an absolute hardcase lunatic - hasn't had many minutes but when he has played has done ok, albeit he has played against weaker teams.
Gyokeres has been completely underwhelming which luckily for him has been masked by the position you sit in the table.

You brought him in with the expectation that he would be posting numbers that would put him in contention for the golden boot yet have now changed the narrative of what his role for the team is.

Ironically Havertz & even Merino have done just as good if not an even better job in the same position.

Gyokeres has been superb at creating space for the other attackers. He's been a brilliant signing. Not everyone can post Haaland numbers.

Absolute nonsense. You are a late martinelli equaliser away from seriously questioning the guys worth. Which attackers exactly has he unlocked?

Any Arsenal fan should now know that being top 4/8 points lead now means jack shit! Even that with 10 games to go it means not much because those ten games they could throw those points away very easily if the players start to think more about that pass that shot just holding on to the ball a bit longer will change the way they play to win a game!

You said last week that these two were better than all City’s centre backs?

One big error per game and not played much isn’t a ringing endorsement over multiple Premier League winners

Arsenal are well equipped to win the league this year so barring huge amount of injuries to key players and I don’t mean just one or two then if they don’t win it this season questions have to be asked, they’ll never get a better chance with that stacked squad.

The only way they will win it is if they do what the dippers did last season and build a huge lead. There is no way that team, manager and fanbase will handle a tight run in.

I think David Silva was more appreciated by fans of other clubs than Gareth Barry.

Even Merlin himself said that Gareth was a joy to play with. Maybe even the best player for his (Silva's) game.
