Arsenal thread | 2025/26

For people that know football better than I do. Is Declan Rice better than the likes of Casimiro & Kante when they were at their peaks?

Also why won’t his playing level drop off significantly like theirs did when they reached the age of 30? Rice is almost 27

Sorry I should have said the last 2 seasons. Last team to score more than 2 goals against us was Luton. And only 1 team has more than 1 XG in a game vs us this season (Rags away).

It's comedy though that people are calling out Arsenal for 'only' drawing away at the team that was 2nd in the league as if that's a terrible result. It's a much worse result for Chelsea than it is us, it was clear our backup centre backs were nervous (1st league game they've played together).

I read some comments on the 'will we win the league this season' thread that Arsenal's week of games vs Spuds, Bayern and Chelsea could see them unravel. Well since then they've increased the gap on City from 4 points to 5, Dippers from 8 points to 9 and kept Chelsea at 6 points behind. So taking a wider view it's been a pretty good 7 days.
Defo a worse result for you mate no dressing it up. Against 10 men, chance to put a real gap between 2nd place. Seen it all before with you lot tbh. Just hope we find some consistency so we're there when the pressure gets too much for you after xmas

I quite like you, pal. I don't know why you're here sometimes, but I respect you as a poster and wanting to stick up for your team. But this comes across as more rattled than I suspect you intended it to.
If this is the fans in November imagine the players. Can't wait for the bottle again lol

It was a poor performance and you'd have hoped we'd put 10 men to the sword. But there are caveats. This wasn't a football match. They played like it was their cup final and came to kick us off the pitch. The red was a leg breaker. They should of had 3 red cards. Cucerella should have had about 6 yellows. The ref favoured them throughout letting them get away with murder. This gets no card:

Saka was well below par aside from his assist. We've had an injury crisis too. No Havertz, no Saliba, no Gabriel, no Trossard, no Jesus. That meant Hincape and Moscuera both starting together for the first time.

Martinelli/Madueke/Gyokeres all out for month or 2 and they only just came back yesterday - Bayern for Martinelli. So they're well off being match fit.

We've played Spurs, Bayern and Chelsea in the last 7 days, players were tired

Yes, i'd say so. amazing player. scary almost 27, only feels like a short time ago i was watching his debut for us.

You had 6 yellows to their 1 plus the red, and you think they were kicking you off the pitch?

No idea what the reaction was for from the Chelsea player in the video but he booted the ball away, not the player. Showing a carefully trimmed video doesn't change the facts.

Very subjective question, but for me there are few better than Kante, that have played that central midfield role in the Premier League.

As good as Declan Rice is, for me he isn't one of them.

Different roles maybe, but what a player Kante was.

What a horrible couple of players they are, Cucurella and Fernandez. Note, I didn’t type footballers.

You missed the ball was too round bit

The ref wasn't even giving a card for the red before VAR pulled it up. We were getting booked for tactical fouls. They were going through the back of our players legs and getting away with it.

But the way these players play the game which involves covering every blade of grass surely it is inevitable that a drop off will occur before other players who rely less on their physicality?

I don't think Arsenal will top 90 points this season but I don't think anyone else is gonna get past 80 points, so it's theirs imo. Arsenal will wobble. Every team does. But I don't think anyone's good enough to punish them for it. They've hit a sweet spot with this team in terms of quality and depth - I think even 82/83 points will be enough for the title this year.

They're currently at a similar point to where we were at between 2017-2024. Not as good as us, but the other team had to be 100% perfect and hope that we had an off-day in order to get any points off us. Chelsea gave absolutely everything to that game yesterday and Arsenal were off their usual standards. Still they get a point at Stamford Bridge. We've seen ourselves in the past that 10 men can make it harder for City to break a team down.

Just don't see where we get 6 more points than them over the course of the rest of the season.

I was going to say, Kante was a fucking monster. And maybe it's unfair to measure on trophies, but the lad was the most important cog in Leicester winning a league (!), an average Chelsea side winning a CL, and France winning a world cup. It's some CV.
