Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Depth wise I think it is. Options to rotate. Quality wise we certainly didn't look like prime Barca tonight.

It doesn’t matter who plays you struggle scoring from open play so there’s an issue with creativity in the squad. It’s just something that gets repeated & yet all we hear is excuses about injuries. If the squad’s so hot stop the excuses.

City were without Stones, Rodri, Kovacic, Doku, Bobb, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri & still scored 3.

Ah we are looking at 1 game at a time are we? That's not the way to do it. Over the season we are 2nd top scorers behind City and have the best defensive record. 1 game in isolation doesn't say anything.

Everton was the 1st fixture in a run of 6 that we dropped points in last season. I'll take an ugly 1-0 all day long.

Struggled last game aswell if I remember.

Arse still have a very good team but maybe not as good as the media is making out and equally city is not as bad. Nor Liverpool.

It looked like a stroll but not now. Mentality is being tested. We need you to drop in the next 4 weeks. Don’t and you will have finally arrived to fight for a title.

Cant see a dynasty but a mere ripple in our quest to remain the top team in England.

No one stand beside city for domestic dominance.

Treble and 4 in a row needs to be repeated or bettered by a rival team. Anyone can win the league over a good season. Leicester springs to mind.

The poster is not looking at one game at a time. You are struggling to score EVERY game. I admire your confidence but you need a functioning attack and defence to win things and you only have one of those.

You think you’ve only struggled to score in 1 game ? All season, scoring from open play has been a problem for you? I thought we were talking about why you have the best squad & what evidence there is for that? I personally don’t see evidence of it.

THE 5 main trophies in a season as well

I'd say the fact we have had the most injuries this season and are still top of the PL and 6 from 6 in the CL would be a sign that the squad is a deep one.

We haven't played great the last few weeks but every team goes through a blip - important to just try and grind out a win before sunnier days come back.

Re scoring from open play, we are mid-table for that but I checked the rules and set piece goals count the same as open play goals. We should have had 2 open play goals tonight but hit the post.

Well despite these deficiencies we find ourselves top of the league and champions league. So if City go on a crazy run and Arsenal remain as they are then City will win the league. If City stay as they are and Arsenal stay as they are then Arsenal will win. And if Arsenal get better than they are currently then Arsenal will win.

City are definitely playing better than Arsenal at the current moment though and I'm glad the game at the Etihad is in April and not coming up soon. A lot of football to play before then though with many twists and turns. I suspect by then it will be a 2 horse race between City and Arsenal with Villa dropping out of the Top 4

I’d be very worried if I supported arsenal. They’re not going to get any better yet we are at 60/70 percent
This is a fallacy though. Why would Arsenal not get better? They have Gabriel to come back in and Havertz also. Plus players recently back from injury getting back up to speed (eg Odegaard, Gyokeres etc). And we have played far better already this season including giving Bayern and Atletico a bumming. We aren't playing great currently but that will pick up. Form ebbs and flows. That being said I am still 'worried' but I was also worried when we were 7 clear as I didn't think we looked unbeatable.

So you’re saying you gave the best squad because you’ve ground out results? I’d accept efficient or pragmatic but not best. Anyway 22 games to go & the flapping has started already.

Course but you’ve had those players most of the season. We are only just starting to turn the screw and we have the best player in the league to come back into the team. Arsenal are a great side, not disputing it but our ceiling is higher

Your 1st XI ceiling is for sure higher. It's if something happens to Haaland, Foden etc where there may be a bigger drop off than we would have if we lost Odegaard or Saka again. That being said if Rice gets injured we can kiss goodbye to the league - we don't have cover for him that's anywhere near his level.

That's why our manager is better than yours, we can get injuries and be short but pep will turn a fullback into an attacking midfielder or a centre half to a 10-11 goal a season striker, thats what he is good at, Arteta is a dinosaur and knows your teams limits and hence he relies so much on set pieces

16 goals from open play and 15 from set pieces and penalties.

It's all part of the game, but if that ratio continues and they win the league doing it that way then fair play, but I will be astonished if it that is sustainable.

Arsenal won't lose many games, in fact I don't think they will will lose again in the league for the rest of the season because their toughest away game is City and they will park a German WW2 Panza tank in that game. What will cost them though in my opinion, is i can't help but feel draws will kill them in the end if they carry on as they are.

It was draws that killed it for Liverpool whenever they came up against us.
