Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Not watched the Villa game however safe to assume they wouldn’t roll over and let themselves be savaged by us though. Losers.
Put their clean cut chances away first half...very different. Arse steam rollered 'em second half...Villa tried their socks off just messed up...then were knackered...well played Arse tbf

One thing i would say about City fans in general. is that we typically have match going fans on forums, makes a big difference, bit of perspective. Also we have a really aging fan base, i think us and Everton have the oldest av and longest running season ticket purchasers - loads of blues 50 years plus match goers - thats some commitment to the game. There are a good few at Arsenal too, but because your reach stretches outside match going distances a lot on social media and platforms are ermmm different! Not all angels from our side of course , but in the main its rational football thought first....well it is with my pals

I've always found AFTV to be a huge embarassment to the badge and I think the opposition think they represent Arsenal fans and they really do not. They're a bunch of narcissists and the way they hounded Wenger out was shameful and disgusting.

As for an aging fanbase, you're meant to have children and force them to watch a club that will depress them (obviously not the case for yourself in the last 15 years, but it's a running joke from most male fans forcing their kids to support their club)

The question is how they're gonna do when they can see the finish line. Not too worried about impressive wins now as long as we do our job and stay in touching distance.

They've already proven they can be excellent front runners in two of the previous three seasons, which never resulted in anything for them.
Different this season i think, much more pragmatic squad. Jesus will def help 'em, harrying oppos when games are tight etc...

The Martinez gaffe right at start of second half set tone for Villa second half. Shocking goalkeeping
Did the same against the dippers and the Chavs, they only managed to recover against the latter, he's a cocky twat who thinks he's way better than he is, only world class at saving penalties.

Of course, we still have that generation thing (i'm a classic example like so many up and down the country). Thing is we have always had a really large core of really resiliant 50 year plus match goers..even away we have more than our fair share of oap's...its great to see, and genuinely pretty different to most clubs if im honest..particularly away!

1st decent half in a while performance wise. What's most telling for me is that the narrative is we are in a blip yet we have won the last 6 matches (if you include EFL penalties). Plus we are halfway through a run of 6 matches where we dropped points last season and have won all so far, with Bmth away, Dippers home and Forest away to come.

Re Bmth away next, Iraola saying Semenyo will play. Can't see that being allowed if a deal with City has been agreed.

One minor gripe about tonight - Eze hasn't played in the last 4 league matches now. Not even as sub. I'm confused why we bought him - surely it was an opportunity to rest Odegaard when we were 3-0 up.

Do you reckon in the 90s/00s City Dad's who had lads lost them to United? I remember in 1991 when I was 11 and I was putting my football boots on 1 lad was saying to another, yes I used to support Liverpool too when they were champions, but I support United now they're obviously better.

Having said that, I'd of thought you'd have a ton of new fans in the last 15 years

Again a bit harsh. Yeah they’re probably in a slightly false position but they’ve not got great strength in depth and they looked absolutely knackered second half. Emery has done a brilliant job for them
Totally agree. Lacking strength in depth, Jadon Sancho's first match since arriving on loan in the summer and he was awful. Watkins has never been a prolific goalscorer, had one good season about 5 years ago. I'm surprised they've hung on to him as it's something that they badly lack. A decent striker in there and they might have been 2 up at half time.

Remember the outrage of Donnarumma going down to facilitate a "tactical timeout" for City against Leeds (was it?).

Here's a clip showing Arteta gesturing for Gabriel to go down for treatment, so he can do his subs.

Granted every club does it, the Donnarumma one wasn't exactly subtle though which didn't help.

Credit where Credit is due.
That's a good 3 points tonight at home to a inform Villa
Sends a message to other clubs and our bias British media.
Unfortunately for Arsenal Pep and his teams don't pay to much attention to either of them.
Were Man City we fight till the end.
5 points clear at the top looks good but we have a game in hand and they have to play at the Etihad still.
Let's enjoy the ride. CTID
