Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

If this is the best we can offer English football is done.

I’m sick of watching the wrestling at corners. It bores me to bits. FA need to sort it fast.

Full investigation of Webb and PIGMOL's finances and then ban him for life from all football related activities.

Fair play to those of you who sat through the whole 90-plus minutes of that bland, unimaginative, safety-first dross Arsenal dished up last night. I doff my cap to you hearty souls who persevered from kick off to full time in the hope that a game of football might suddenly break out. Patiently watching with fingers crossed in the vain hope that a team costing millions and millions, playing at home in a Cup semi-final, might actually do something adventurous for the first time, like take a throw-in in less than 2 minutes.

In all the years of following our national sport we've seen them all come and go: Wimbledon, Sheffield United, Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers - we've endured every type of anti-football that has ever existed. But last night was truly the nadir, the all-time low, the death rattle of the sport we've come to love and cherish.

But I have to give a special mention to all you Arsenal fans, you people who pay a lot of money week in week out to watch that utterly indefensible abomination your club served up last night: a club that once had Overmars, Henry, Wright, Bergkamp etc in their ranks, reduced to relying on set-pieces for a 1-0 victory.

In two words: Fuck that!

I’d like this twice if I could!

What about Arsenal approach ? Arsenal were at home had 44% possession and only 2 shot on target .

Can you imagane how the media would say if City having spend all this money play football like Arsenal does.

At the minimum a league and cup double. My fear is they are the team set to win a champions league. They don’t concede much, they’re boring and great on set pieces. A nightmare for a one off game and two legs.

I watched the game and the ref gave them license to kick, push, pull all over the pitch. They’re hard men in their heads now, one thing I’d like to see, won’t happen, is when we next play them is rough the twats up. Employ our own dark arts, little late one here and there I think they’d struggle as they’re not used to it. The games almost non contact now.
Arsenal have been allowed to cheat at every set piece by fouling and obstructing the keeper. They have been allowed to feign injury, waste time, leave the pitch for drinks without permission. They have been allowed to kick their opponents throughout matches. They kicked Chelsea off the pitch last night. They are not being called out in the media or by referees. But matchgoing fans know exactly what is happening.

They have played Liverpool twice and failed to beat them

They have played us once and failed to win and no they won’t win at the Etihad

One thing they do very well is to block opponents making a run after they have played the ball. The referee often plays advantage but more often than not, no advantage occurs.

Standing over the ball, when the opposition have a free kick, is another mantra they all follow. I even saw one of them instructing Eze to do just that. You have to ask why all our refs are so weak, unless City are playing.

This is an interesting one. Watch when City have a free kick, to our credit we always take it quickly to get the ball back into open play even when an opposition player is standing a yard in front of the kicker. All very commendable except that it usually means passing backwards or sideways which ensures that the opposition still has time to set its defence so we get no advantage.

My instruction would be, straightaway, to blast it at the man obstructing the free kick and get them booked (albeit making a, probably, unjustified leap of faith that the referee will do their job) and keep doing it until the likes of Arsenal learn their lesson.

If next seasons serves up more of the same, I am tempted to have a 5 year hiatus and revisit the game then.

Football is in the gutter at the moment.

Exceptionally poor value for money.
