Interesting fact - Diego Maradona had a transfer to Arsenal blocked as a teenager.

Diego Maradona was a fan of Arsenal
After his playing days were over, Maradona admitted in 2008 that he was a fan of Arsenal and the way they were playing under Arsene Wenger.

“They play beautiful football. They break quickly – they defend and attack as one. I am a fan of Arsenal when I am in England,” he stated.

“When I was 19 they tried to buy me and another player from Argentinos Juniors – around the time Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles signed for Tottenham.

“But it didn’t happen. I sometimes wonder what might have happened.”

The time of Arsenal’s interest came when there was political tension between England and Argentina, and the FA acted to block what could have been a record-breaking deal.

League Secretary at the time Graham Kelly was eager to ensure that clubs could not sign players from outside the European Economic Community for two years, and that they would not be granted work permits, which ultimately blocked the move.

What is common here is ….cheating wether it’s the hand of god or faking injuries.

Interesting for who ?

Ok guys, my presence on this thread obviously seems to annoy you

Think it's safer for me to stick to the occasional post in the Scottish football threads again.
Most folk on here are top lads and ladies. There's a vocal minority who are influenced by the current media portrayal of Arsenal and/or are just looking to vent. We're on a City forum as guests so I try not to bite back despite the incredible irony in what some of them level at us as a club, or even personal insults.

I suspect if they were posting as City fans on an Arsenal forum they'd get the same treatment so fair enough. And you go posting as GunnerGer on a Celtic forum and let me know how you get on!

But like I said, the vast majority on here are totally sound and have been through vast extremes of ups and downs with City so are well acquainted with all ends of the football spectrum which you don't really get with other fanbases.

Most people on here are influenced by what they see with their own eyes. If you think the "Arsenal are massive cheats, dull as fuck to watch and a blight on the modern game" line comes from media influence then I've got a bridge to sell you.

Scored more goals than any other English side this season and 3rd fastest team across Europe to get to 100 goals, after Bayern and Barca.

So 'dull as fuck' but scores the most goals.

Here comes the 'yes but set pieces' inevitable retort lol.

How bout we take a chill pill, no city fan will relent in this pulling out with fake injuries line so it’s pointless justifying it
Football is the most tribal sport there is and
There’s never going to be time when an opposition fan can say what he really thinks
Without being banned. I personally find you ok and don’t have a problem with you posting your opinions, most of us on here are good guys having been both ends of the football landscape. I’ve had a look at Arsenal mania forum and I think there’s far more younger fans than older on there as they are in my foc opinion very black and white. They either think they’re nailed on to win the league or want arteta out.
Maybe you need this more than we do.

Just read that 12…. 12! Arsenal players have withdrawn their services from their respective international teams due to ‘injury.’

Astonishing cowardice..
They are absolutely bricking it. They must feel it's going tits up again calling back all these players.
Let's hope they don't tempt fate and these players really get injured.

How many of those 100 were own goals?

tbf it's good to have as many opposing fans views as possible. Makes a change from the 3 camps currently contributing ('happy clappers', 'bigger blue than you' and 'match day thread wankers')
This, 100%. But after a while many of them start to have their little digs, crossing off their City bingo cards, and that's when I put them on ignore. I won't waste my time arguing with someone whose only aim appears to be ruffling a few feathers just for the sake of it.

Set pieces are fine but diving to win set pieces and then using wrestling moves to score from them is dull as fuck and also, you know, cheating.
Unless you think Arsenal haven't cheated their way to a lot of those goals you're so inexplicably proud of, in which case I've got a bridge to sell you.
