Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Where did they get another 6 minutes from and then played well over 7? It seems its an obligatory rule for Arsenal to get his much added time. I reckon we've had 7 minutes about 5 times in the last 5 years. The only good thing is if you add them all up they'll have played about 3 games more than the rest of us with added time.

Them dropping points is all we need. 2 draws and us beating them would still be enough.
It's still a tall order though and we're fast running out of games.

Edited: Forgot our game in hand.

I think you know very well the value of not calling anything cheating until absolutely proven otherwise so I don't need to lecture you on that point - you'd do well to extend the same courtesy to other teams.

Fact is refs are allowing the goals so in their books it isn't cheating and their opinion is the one that matters. When that opinion changes the goals will get disallowed. Until then, you're just shouting at clouds and teams will use the rules to their benefit. It's not our fault City aren't as effective at set pieces as they could be but I'll bet you any money City will be working on marginal gains in that area for next season.
A furious Fabian Hurzeler said "only one team tried to play football" in Brighton's 1-0 loss to Arsenal and accused the Gunners of "making their own rules" as he railed against perceived time-wasting.

Former player Chris Sutton recently claimed Arsenal could be the "ugliest" Premier League champions, while Liverpool's Arne Slot admitted the constant grappling makes games a tough watch.

Wegner on Stoke City's tactics
Elite managers, notably Arsène Wenger, were infuriated by this physical, rugby-esque tactic, claiming it completely bypassed playing actual football.

Its in Arsenal's DNA
Led by captain Tony Adams, the entire defensive line would abruptly step forward in unison the exact moment the opposing team played a forward pass, catching attackers offside. They would famously raise their arms together to aggressively appeal to the linesman. While incredibly effective and foundational to winning multiple titles in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the tactic was heavily condemned for creating a disjointed, highly frustrating spectacle that repeatedly stopped the game's momentum.

If they draw against Bournemouth & lose to us can you see them winning the next 5?
White's confidence looks shattered, in fact the mood of the whole team looks shot to me. Lose to City in the League Cup Final? Fine, i'll make seven changes; proceeds to lose to Southampton. That's going to sting.

I just think we've also given them too much of an advantage. Were we still 4 points behind them at this stage i'd be more confident. 9 points is just.....ugh.

I thought that myself.

I was expecting five minutes, and I reckoned that was being generous to cheating Arsenal, but to put up six and then keep going well beyond that was really taking the piss.

I thought the league had been done for a while and I still do. The cups were the ones that could always catch up with them. They'll probably get past the next CL tie but once they meet the heavyweights over two legs I think they'll get done.
They were outplayed by Southampton and have not played well for months. They will have to dramatically improve to win the title. I think they have been found out.
