Far from his peak last season, let’s not forget Ederson had 4 assists. That’s only 4 fewer than Arsenal’s most creative player, Odegaard had that season.

Ederson, single-handedly, revolutionised the rôle of a goalkeeper in a football team.

Of course, not every ‘keeper will have the necessary skills to play as Ederson did for us, but the position will never be the same again.

This seems to be a consistent thing with City fans vs Rice. As a Gooner he and Raya are fundamental to any trophy chase for us. If either are out it's goodnight Vienna. He's destined to be one of those players that fans of the club appreciate but fans of other clubs don't see the true value of (I guess a bit like David Silva was for you - anyone with a brain could see he was an unbelievable player but for some reason he never got his flowers from other club supporters - not that I'm equating Rice and Silva just in case any City fans get the pitchforks out!).

The thing about Rice is he looks unspectacular, doesn't have the best 1st touch, isn't as incisive as (for example) a peak Rodri but he has an amazing engine, is positionally terrific and is generally fit and available to play. I'd say he's an 8/10 in all areas which is what we need.

If you put him in a more expansive team you'd see his value more I reckon. At Arsenal he's asked to provide a defensive shield over the back 4 which stymies him somewhat.

Pitchforks? Really? This isn't fuckin Burnley

If you put him in a better team like prime City his first touch would likely be a problem.

This is what so many people choose to ignore. Once Rices legs go what is left for him to offer other than a half decent corner kick?

Look at the drop off casimiro (in his prime a far superior player) has had the last few years. And Rice has played his whole career in the most intense physical league in the world. He’ll be done by 30 years of age

Perhaps Rice could play the Jordan Henderson role….being good at table tennis and darts back at the hotel.

Can’t blame the bottlers to do all they can to get the crowd behind them even if they are struggling in a game they want them to keep getting behind them! But Arsenal don’t score in the first 20/30mins will all the crowd be singing getting loudly behind them!? Let’s see!

To get the fans to create an atmosphere then your team has to give them something back other than another bottle job. Never really looked like creating any good chances and just relying on set pieces won't always get the job done.
