Never truer words said. Other fan’s negativity around City is misplaced brainwashing over the 115 or “dirty oil money”. It’s rarely about the football other than we’re boring (translated to we don’t let them have the ball and win most of the trophies on offer). All joking aside, there are obviously some decent gooner fans around (somewhere!), and they must be livid by what Arteta's done to their club. After all, it's the fans who are left to try and justify what happened the other night. It's hard enough for them looking for excuses to validate the awful football he's served up all season. They are the ones who are forced to rationalise the team's disgusting antics at corners, the piss-taking length of time to take a throw-in, and the eleven-behind-the-ball tactics he's deployed constantly since he rolled up there. The fact that he's spent about a billion pounds and his team play like a non-league outfit. When the fans are getting stick from rival supporters it's them who have to somehow defend what their manager has turned their club into.
Which in turn begs the question, how much longer are they going to tolerate being the very worst of the bad apples in the barrel?
Jokes are one thing, but when pretty much the entire footballing universe are openly repulsed by your club, that club has to make some pretty difficult decisions for its long-term future.
Once we’re exonerated over the malicious charges the City haters will still be there in the media and on computers in their bedrooms looking for the next stick to beat us with but whatever stick they find, it can’t possibly be as long or irritating as the ignorant slurs and slander we’ve been forced to endure.
The short, medium and long-term future is definitely more sky blue than tarquin red.
