Arsenal v City post match thread

I think criticism of Yaya and Nasri has been a bit overdone. Nasri was a bit conservative maybe but both players had more touches on the ball than all but four City players and had decent pass completion; Nasri was a 96%. Yaya did some excellent defensive work that won't even show up in the stats (shielding the ball out for instance in his own box). Unfortunately, they were party to losing the ball for the move from which Arsenal scored and they did not have the sort of positive impact that they are capable of.

I also wonder if Nasri still struggles a bit with all the constant booing when he gets the ball?
I agree, I didn't think Nasri had a bad game, it wasn't his best, but he was fine for me. I thought Yaya played well, did a lot of the dirty work he often doesn't do. I thought Clichy had a good game. My biggest disappointment was edin, I thought he did little up front, poor positioning lack of movement, too often trotting, did his defensive duties OK though, but that is not what he's paid for really.

Misleading this, cos Arsenal have a midfield cast of thousands who are virtually interchangeable. Walcott and Wilshere are the highest profile casualties, but neither would have improved the side one iota yesterday. Cazorla and Rosicky were outstanding, Arteta and Flamini were essential to the gameplan, and they still had Oxlade-Chamberlain on the bench. The difference Aguero makes to City though is immeasurable

Aguero's injuries have been a big blow to us: fit and on form, I think that he is at least as dangerous as Suarez.

Absolutely.

He has simply not played enough over the last couple of seasons. There comes a time when a difficult decision has to be made. Get the feeling he'll be fine for the World Cup though.

Probably the best striker that we have ever had. That's what makes it even more frustrating.
Totally agree
I dare say if he had stayed fit all season we would be out of sight.
The poor guy has had more than his fair share of trouble the last couple of seasons. Unfortunately he is the player we miss the most.

Can't understand why Zabaleta and Navas both didn't shoot in those first 20 minutes when they both broke clear into the penalty area. Arsene's comments about them being nervous in the first half showed we should have taken the initiative and put the game to bed. We do need to realise that teams fear us and start taking advantage of our dominant possession. I said it a few months ago but teams often score against us with their one and only chance whereas we seem to miss plenty of opportunities in front of goal. We also give possession away needlessly and cheaply quite a lot, Yaya's simple over hit pass to Nasri ended up with them scoring. If we can iron out a few small issues and believe in ourselves a lot more then next year we should be unstoppable.

I agree. If his movement had presented more of a threat, then Arsenal's midfield couldn't have just ignored him and let the two central defenders hover near him. He didn't make them work nearly enough.

Part of the discussion is if we lost two of won a point at Arsenal. I think we lost two.

Obviously Arsenal away is a tough fixture for any PL-team. And 'having Nasri in the side just stirs up their normally quiet one song plastic fans. Somehow after Chelsea and Swansea we were another cupfinal-opponent to them.

Their past results however must have tweaked their mental state and with quite a few injuries they were definitely not in the best of moods. We however were winning our last 3 matches in convincing way with the cherry picked at the swamp. The news that Chelsea lost at Palace must have been a mental booze as well.

And that was exactly the way the game started up until we scored a deserved goal. That was the moment to go for the kill and a second goal would have definitely finished them of. Instead, we let them get back in to the game, despite not giving away anything. Up until the moment they equalised. After that we found it hard to get back control, had a lucky escape and that was it really.

It may have been a fair result in the end, they were there for the taking. Leading 1-0 and bossing the game it was therefore disappointed to end up with a draw. Either the outcome in May, it's a pity we gave Arsenal back some pride that might help them save 4th spot. And we already practically handed them the FA-cup. Pity ...

Are there any gifs of Rosicky's various leg breaker tackles? I felt like the last one, in particular, was really, really dangerous.

Don't know how he didn't get sent off, dived and got caught doing so by the ref before he was booked and then committed 6/7 nasty fouls afterwards.

After our first half display, and more importantly Arsenal's first half display, I certainly see this as 2 points dropped. We were 1-0 up, we'd been pretty much in control throughout, and Arsenal looked clueless as to how to hurt us. Yes, they improved in the second half, but we should have held onto our win, we never got going and put in a pretty poor display in the second 45 minutes.

I have no idea, either. Which is why I'm trying to find the tackles but having no luck. Some typically deluded Gunner fans are acting as if he did nothing wrong.
