What are we supposed to do? Stop going and become even less competitive?
You also realise that your club's owners are partly responsible for the high wages. You can't have it both ways.
do the players get paid less the week they charge wigan 19 quid or southampton 28 ?
Not sure where you get the 19 quid for Wigan from. The price structure at Arsenal this season actually came after the club consulted with fans. Previously we had two price categories. Now we have three.
The bottom category (Wigan,Saints,Stoke) is cheaper than last season at £28 for the cheapest seat. The top category (Spurs, both Mancs,Chelski,West Ham) is more expensive than previously with £62 being the cheapest ticket. The middle category (Everton,Newcastle) remains the same.
An Arsenal fan attending all 19 league home matches will pay exactly the same as they did last season. The club will be no better and no worse off once the 19 x 60,000 have been added up.
The benefit of this is that the poorer Arsenal fan who could no longer afford to go, now has the opportunity to watch at least some football every season. I think its great that some proper fans (a lot of those will be kids) have the opportunity to watch football now, like I did when I was a kid.
Surely all the working class heroes on here whining about the cost can't have an issue with that.
For what its worth Arsenal as a club have always placed away fans in the cheapest part of the ground. Not many clubs can say that.
Also, we have always been subject to tier 1 pricing when we go away. So have the Mancs and Scousers. I doubt you felt sorry for us. Now you're an attraction and paying the price.
This thread reminds me of other discussions I've had with City fans where they can't understand why Gooners are quite hostile to them now, when the two sets of fans used to get on well. It should be obvious why that has changed a little.
Jealousy?
