Artemis II

Not a fan of flying at all but I would of loved to of been on that plane watching the lift off
LOTS of flight schools along that coastline, so I’m sure they were like fire flies…outside the Prohibited Area, of course!

Saw the Space Shuttle takeoff many times, especially night launches, and hearing the double sonic booms when it came in to land was always fun, but actually seeing it coming back from Edwards Air Force Base in CA on the back of a modified B747 was perhaps the coolest thing!

FWIW, when there’s nothing on any of the launch pads, Canaveral Tower will let you fly down their 3 mile long Shuttle Landing Strip as low as you like, as long as you don’t touch down!!

For anyone who ever goes to Orlando (Disney, Universal, etc) a quick trip down the Bee Line to the Space Coast is a must! Not only are there some great beaches (which Orlando doesn’t have, of course) but there’s lots to see and do, esp the Tour of the Space Centre!

Highly recommended!

I love how Mission Control tells them "233k plus" mph is normal .............. I did 100mph in my company Nissan Juke about 10 years ago and that felt terrifying ......... and yes I picked a Juke coz it was cheap contribution and had all the bits I needed ( nav, climate, DAB etc ) at the time but it had its issues.

Burn done, next catching a slingshot round the moon.

Amazing that they can calculate the exact position and tilt of the Orion craft, the exact amount of thrust needed and the amount of time to burn to land in a point in space that the moon will be in a number of days time.
I hope the crew get a brand new pic of the Earth when they reach their moon orbit. It's been a while.
